Welcome to the Data Science Lab / Berrar Lab at Tokyo Tech! The core of our research is centered around statistical machine learning, data science, and the overarching field of artificial intelligence. We are active in three different, but partially overlapping research directions:

(1) model evaluation and selection, including interpretable machine learning and XAI;

(2) integration and analysis of high-dimensional data (predominantly from the biosciences);

(3) continual learning and deep learning.

Potential applications of our work can be found in various fields that use machine learning for data analysis and knowledge extraction from high-dimensional data, but with a strong focus on the life sciences.
