DashSync Privacy Policy
Effective date: 2026-10-10
DashSync is an Android app made by ShiyuLab. It sets the clock on your dashcam, lets you browse the videos and photos on it, and saves videos to your phone. This policy explains how DashSync handles your data.
We do not collect any data
DashSync does not collect, store or send your personal data to our servers or to any third party. DashSync has no accounts or sign-in, no ads, and no analytics or crash reporting tools.
Data stored on your phone
To connect to your dashcam, DashSync keeps the following on your phone: the name of your dashcam's Wi-Fi hotspot, the password of your dashcam's Wi-Fi hotspot, and the pairing key the dashcam provides the first time you pair.
This data is kept in storage that only DashSync can access, and it never leaves your phone. Uninstalling DashSync, or clearing its data in system settings, deletes it.
Connection to your dashcam
DashSync connects directly to your dashcam over Wi-Fi to set its time, list its videos and photos, and play and download videos. This connection is only between your phone and the dashcam and does not go through the internet.
Videos you save
Videos and photos you save with "Save to phone" go into your phone's gallery. They stay on your phone. DashSync does not upload them.
Permissions
Location: Android requires location permission for an app to list nearby Wi-Fi hotspots. DashSync uses it only to find your dashcam's hotspot. It does not read, store or send your location.
Nearby Wi-Fi devices, on Android 13 and later: used to find and connect to your dashcam's hotspot.
Network and Wi-Fi permissions: used to connect to the dashcam's hotspot and transfer data with the dashcam.
Children
DashSync is not designed for children, and it does not collect personal data from anyone, including children.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, we will update this page and the effective date above.
