Hi! I am an Indian-American first-generation student from Fort Worth, Texas. In May 2025, I graduated from the University of Texas at Arlington with my BS in Mathematics and Biology minor. This Fall, I started my PhD at the University of Maryland in the Applied Math, Stats, & Scientific Computing (AMSC) program. I will be working with Dr. Abba Gumel on problems at the intersection of mathematics, public health, and epidemiology.
I love to lead outreach projects to improve career outcomes for math students, combat math anxiety, and promote community amongst past, current, and future mathematicians as well! At UTA, I founded the Mathposium, meant to expose undergrads to math research and create a peer-to-peer mentoring network between graduate student mentors and undergraduate mentees. I was also two-term President of UTA's MAA Student Chapter, founded the Math Bio Club @ UTA, restarted the AWM chapter @ UTA, and was Vice President of the Pi Mu Epsilon Texas Iota chapter. More details are in my CV :)
I am interested in the development, analysis, and implementation of mathematical and computational tools to solve problems in biology, medicine, and public health. Through mathematical models, I believe we can better understand humans and our interactions with each other, the environment, and disease. In my research, I have created, analyzed, and solved mathematical models to aid clinicians and academics alike.
Some biological topics / problems I have worked on include:
Pulmonary hypertension
Immunology
Antibiotic-resistant bacteria
Cancers (esophageal, hepatocellular, and melanomas)
Oropouche virus
To work on these problems, I employ dynamical systems, numerical methods for initial value problems, optimal control, and parameter estimation and optimization tools. I am currently interested in the development of tools to analyze non-autonomous dynamical systems and on the creation of nonstandard finite difference (NSFD) methods to solve parabolic PDEs. Other topics I am interested in include (and are definitely not limited to) uncertainty quantification (UQ), physics-informed neural networks (PINNs), and model order reduction (MOR).
