Hesitantly, you reached out, to give a gentle shake to the man’s shoulder. “Um…excuse me, sir? Sir-“
“Ah!” With a yelp, he sat up jerkily, chest heaving with panicked breath. But it appeared that whatever had driven him off the road wasn't a problem anymore as he relaxed with a sigh. Eyes falling upon you, the stranger rewarded your good will with suspicion. He jabbed a finger in your direction. “You. What are you doing?”
“Well, I saw your cart on the side of the road, and you were laying there…” Putting your palms up in a plea for mercy, you conceded. “I mean, I thought you’d died or something!”
Offering the still wobbly man a diplomatic hand, you helped him down from the cart. Just as his boots hit the slippery ground, as if he came to a sudden realization, he froze.
From where he held onto you, he yanked your hand a little too close to his bespectacled- begoggled? Whatever- his face. “You have such beautiful digits! Soft skin, great articulation…” The stranger carefully examined your fingers like some wonderful, interesting specimen. “Can Ygor have one of these?…Two, maybe?”
Unsure whether or not he was joking, you let out a startled laugh, playfully pulling your hand back only for it to be held there for just a second too long. Face falling, he cocked his head at you. “So…that's a no?” Oh, he wasn't joking.
“Ah- none the matter!” He waved a dismissive hand in the air before scrounging in his back pocket, pulling out a pair of black gloves. After you watched him bend half over to grip one corner of the cart, he gave a nod toward the thing, urging. “Come on! Don’t just stand there!”
It was becoming increasingly clearer and clearer that your new friend here may, for lack of a better word, struggle with some basic social principles. Nevertheless, you couldn't really back out now… With a heave of effort, and a few shouted commands from that strange little man, you two got the thing back on the road. However that isn’t to say it didn’t require a shocking amount of effort on your part- that thing was heavy! Pausing for a moment with your hands on your knees, you caught your breath. “Well, I- uh…i'm glad’t be of help…”
