Laura Ingalls Wilder
In a costumed performance, Darcy brings to life stories from Laura's amazing life as a pioneer on the prairie. Laura's grit, perseverance and flaws appeal to folks from 96-6. In this Chautauqua program, the audience can ask questions of both the character and the artist.
Laura Ingalls Wilder (1867-1957) finished her autobiography at 63 and utilized the manuscript to write historical fiction. Her nine Little House books helped create the young adult genre. "Pioneer Girl: The Annotated Autobiography," published in 2014 and now in its 9th printing, offers uncensored, gritty accounts of 19th century life in the Midwest. She lived the childhood she describes and defined the pioneer experience for millions. All of her books are still in print.
“Laura Ingalls Wilder comes alive in Darcy’s spot-on portrayal of the popular Little House author. Appearing in prairie costume, Darcy’s appearance at our storytelling dinner program generated huge interest amongst our dining clientele, and drew a full house for the event. Our audience thoroughly enjoyed the show and Darcy’s professional and entertaining presentation. I can’t wait to have her back!”
