It has been confirmed by the Prophet (peace be upon him) that he said: "Allah has forgiven my nation for whatever crosses their minds as long as they do not act upon it or speak about it" - agreed upon - Some of the Companions complained about the whispers that bothered them.
People came from among the Prophet's companions and asked him, "We find in ourselves something that one of us is too embarrassed to speak about." He said, "You have indeed found it." They said, "What is it?" He said, "It is a clear sign of faith" (reported by Muslim, 132, from the Hadith of Abu Hurayrah). Imam Nawawi said in the explanation of this Hadith: “The statement of the Prophet (peace be upon him): 'This is a clear sign of faith,' means that resisting these whispers is a clear sign of faith. The intensity of fear from them and from speaking about them, let alone believing in them, is only for those who have complete faith in a complete and certain manner, and they are free from doubt and skepticism.” It was also said that it means: “The Satan whispers to those who are hopeless of his temptation, so he bothers them with whispers due to his failure to tempt them.
As for the disbeliever, Satan comes to him from wherever he wants and does not confine himself to whispers, but rather plays with him as he wishes. Therefore, the meaning of the Hadith is: the cause of the whisper is pure faith, or the whisper is a sign of pure faith." The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) also said: "People will continue to ask questions until it is said: This is the creation of Allah, so whoever finds that should say, 'I believe in Allah and His Messenger'" - agreed upon - And in another narration, "they should seek refuge with Allah and refrain from that" reported by Muslim in his Sahih. Through the route of Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her): "Whoever is afflicted with these whispers, let him say, 'We believe in Allah and His Messenger three times, and that will dispel it from him."
