Short Bio

Dr. Dilip A. Patel is a Professor in the Department of Civil Engineering, at SVNIT, Surat. He possesses 19 years of teaching experience and has over 2 years of industrial exposure. He got his Ph.D. degree from IIT Delhi on the thesis entitled “Estimating Number of Fatal Accidents and Investigating Determinants of Safety Performance in Indian Construction”. Prof. Patel has published well over 100 research papers in various international and national journals and international conferences held in Canada, the U.K., Singapore, Oman, Malaysia, the U.S.A., Germany, and India. So far, he has guided more than 50 PG students for their dissertations and 4 Ph.D. thesis. Currently, 5 Ph.D. students are working under his guidance. Apart from academics, Prof. Patel has also been involved in various administrative roles including working as an Associate Dean (Planning and Development) from 2015 to 2017, taking charge as an Additional Central Public Information Officer (A-CPIO), the Right to Information Act, RTI Cell, SVNIT from 2019 to 2023. He is also the local coordinator of SPARC for SVNIT Surat (for coordinating activities of the Scheme for Promotion of Academic Research Collaboration (SPARC) IIT Kharagpur) till December 2025.
