Nancy Fraze, the Town of Danville's first Poet Laureate, was appointed by the Town Council of Danville, California, in November, 2008, with term running through June, 2011. The position was created to serve as a public advocate for the appreciation and advancement of the literary arts, particularly poetry, reading poetry for civic events and dedications, to serve as a liaison between the Arts Commission and local literary organizations, and to act as a resource on the topic of poetry.
