Soccer Tryouts Poster

Background: I created poster to be used for

Skills Used:

  • text boxes

  • shapes

  • layers

  • opacity

  • eye dropper

  • cropping

  • text boxes

Design:

  • Contrast: I created contrast by using two action shots split by a still frame of a goal and soccer ball. I also contrasted the solid backgrounds with a light gray text. There was a very strong vertical alignment, so I contrasted that with the horizontal gay bar across the bottom with the information.

  • Repetition: I created repetition through the vertical columns of photos and the vertical text on the left. I also had a soccer ball in each photo and used the blue from the jersey for the background color on the left side.

  • Alignment: I made sure that the text and logo all fit within the vertical columns and aligned with each other.

  • Visual Hierarchy: The reader should first be drawn to the left side with the bold text of the tryouts announcement. The vertical columns help guide the viewer from left to right and then finally down to the contrasting horizontal bar.

  • Proximity: I placed the photos directly next to each other to feel connected. I also separated and group the pertinent information together. I placed the logo in the bottom left corner to connect with both the vertical and the horizontal text information.

  • Color Scheme: I used the eye dropper on the jersey to pull the blue color for the vertical banner. I used a complementary gray color for the horizontal banner.

  • Font Scheme: I chose a bold sans serif font for the tryouts announcement so it would stand out first. I then used a contrasting script font for the date and time information.
