Imaging Storage - Detailed
What is Imaging?
Imaging is the process of creating an exact copy of a storage drive so the data, system, or setup can be backed up, restored, or transferred to another device.
The Process
Used the SOP to remove, image, and reinstall an M.2 NVMe drive by following grounding procedure, removing the M.2 screw using a Phillips screwdriver, slid the NVMe out at a 30° angle, inserted it into the caddy the same way and used Macrium Reflect to complete the imaging process.
Issues Encountered?
Making sure that the NVMe was completely seated onto the motherboard and caddy, and made sure to ask the supervisor for help when needed/unsure.
What was learned?
NVMe drives should be handled by the side edges and not be touched on the top or bottom to avoid oils from messing with the circuitry.
