Installation "Weeping Birch" literally grows on the fertile soil of the historical and scientific context.
Many beliefs and rituals are historically associated with the image of the birch. According to one of the ancient Slavic traditions, the girls, wishing to find a betrothed, walked along the birch grove, decorating the branches of the trees with ribbons. The ribbons represented maidenly hopes. It was believed that the birch tree had a special power and was good for the unmarried. But not only romantic stories are connected with the birch.
During deciphering of the birch genome (Queen Mary University, Great Britain) scientists found out that the birch has special "food preferences" - the tree dries out the soil, extracting from it all the organic substances. Long before scientific research the explorers looking for the places of burial of the Soviet soldiers who died during the Great Patriotic War noticed that the birches grow especially high and powerful in the places of the mass graves.
A memory of the fallen soldiers can be felt physically, and materially - the heroes of the War continue to live, actually sprouting new groves and forests.
In this way, scientific advances allow us to expand our sensory experience, which is what the artist shows in his work.

In the gallery there are fans next to the birch tree, the wind from which rustles the branches. A camera connected to the program is pointed at the birch tree. This, in turn, analyzes the changes in red on the branches. These changes are correlated with the playback of a musical composition. The movements of the ribbons are tracked and accompanied by the audio composition, which is played literally from the blowing of the wind.
This work immerses us in a tragic context, providing an opportunity to better understand human helplessness in the face of global and inescapable disasters. The sounds of a folk song - as an illustration of the elusiveness of the wind and hope, the fragility of prosperity and existence.
