Valdivia is a fluvial city by definition. Its identity is profoundly related with the river and activities resulting from this interaction. Thus, the strategy to positioning the city as a fluvial capital is based on providing infrastructure flexible enough to accommodate the different present and future programmatic needs of Valdivian inhabitants.

Sports both in a competitive and leisure context are an essential part of the existing activities on the site, defining the relation of the people with the river. The Rowing Club, and training area, are located in front of the city’s Casino. Together with the Nautical Club will become part of the new image of the city. Positioning Valdivia as the main nautical centre of Chile.
