Bio

Daniel Kim is a postdoctoral research fellow at Harvard Medical School & Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH) Institute for Technology Assessment (ITA). He holds a PhD in Industrial Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology, where his research focused on using modeling and analytics to inform resource allocation and policy decisions across various sectors. During his PhD and fellowship at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), Daniel developed infectious disease models to evaluate vaccination and surveillance strategies to minimize the spread of infectious diseases. He also investigated Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) administrative claims data to analyze healthcare service utilization and improve access to quality care for children with mental health disorders such as ADHD, depression, and suicidal ideation. Additionally, Daniel has extensive experience reviewing federal regulations and developing stylized economic models to assess public and private sector decisions and their impact on policymaking.

At the ITA, Daniel collaborates with Dr. Jagpreet Chhatwal on projects focused on Metabolic Dysfunction-Associated Steatohepatitis (MASH) and liver transplantation. He also works with Dr. Shaan Khurshid on atrial fibrillation screening strategies. Through these projects, Daniel applies his expertise in modeling and analytics to explore clinical and cost-effective interventions that aim to improve care for patients with acute and chronic diseases.
