My name is Daniel, and I’m currently in my fourth year as an economics PhD student at the Norwegian School of Economics (NHH), affiliated with FAIR. I am advised by Alexander Willén, and co-advised by Aline Bütikofer. Before my PhD, I had worked as a research assistant for Cecília Machado at the Getúlio Vargas Foundation (FGV-RJ) and Maína Celidônio at the Pontifical Catholic University (PUC-Rio).

My core research interests lie in labour and public economics, with focus on education. I'm also interested in social economics, especially on poverty and inequality, having collaborated with the World Bank in this topic.

In my primary research, I study the long-term impacts of school funding policies, aiming to disentangle the effects of both funding levels and their structural designs. My ambition is to investigate the nuanced relationship between how the public sector responds to education funding alterations and the subsequent ramifications on the students affected by these shifts.

Furthermore, I'm engaged in research concerning the higher education admissions system, examining its influence on students' behaviours and their long-term outcomes.

I received both my bachelor's and master's degrees from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ).
