Daniel Duque
My name is Daniel, and I’m currently in my fourth year as a PhD student in economics at the Norwegian School of Economics (NHH), affiliated with FAIR. I am advised by Alexander Willén and co-advised by Aline Bütikofer.
My core research interests lie in labor and public economics, with a focus on education. I am also interested in social economics, especially issues related to poverty and inequality, and have collaborated with the World Bank on these topics.
In my primary research, I study the long-term impacts of school funding policies, aiming to disentangle the effects of funding levels and structural funding designs. My ambition is to explore how the public sector’s response to changes in education funding impacts the students affected by these shifts.
Additionally, I am conducting research on the higher education admissions system, examining its influence on students' behaviors and their long-term outcomes.
Before my PhD, I worked as a research assistant for Cecília Machado at the Getúlio Vargas Foundation (FGV-RJ) and Maína Celidônio at the Pontifical Catholic University (PUC-Rio). I received both my bachelor's and master's degrees from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ).
