Hello there! My name is Daniel Joy and I am a first-year Masters Graduate student at University of Tennessee Knoxville interested in researching cybersecurity & machine learning.Â
I graduated from Carson-Newman University in May 2025.
I've always been interested in solving puzzles and finding the best way to play games, so going into computer science was natural for me. Thankfully I have been able to develop my problem-solving and critical thinking skills through the challenging computer sciences courses in my education.
I currently work as a TA for the CSC202 (Algorithms) and CSC360 C-language courses here at UT. I have experience as a peer tutor at C-N for select Computer Science and Mathematics courses. Tutoring is a great way for me to help other students with the knowledge that I've gained, and also to meet new friends!
After college, I would like to have a lifelong career in the cybersecurity field, which I consider to be the most exciting and quickly-evolving subfield of computer science. I hope to use my abilities in computer science to work for a renewable energy company and help keep their data secure.
For fun, I go running (5ks!), play the viola, and write science fiction short stories.
