Danilo Giacometti, PhD
I am a Brasilian comparative physiologist, currently a São Paulo Research Foundation Postdoctoral Fellow in Dr. Carlos Navas' lab at Universidade de São Paulo, Brasil. I earned my PhD from Brock University, Canada (supervised by Dr. Glenn Tattersall), and both my MSc in Ecology and Evolution and my HBSc in Biology from Universidade Federal de São Paulo, Brasil.
I am interested in understanding how organisms respond to environmental variation on spatial and temporal scales. I focus on features that are vital to organismal functioning, such as energetics, hydroregulation, and thermoregulation. I am particularly interested in studying the evolution of behavioural and physiological aspects to better understand adaptations and predict how organisms will respond to environmental change. To answer my questions, I use fieldwork, laboratory experiments, and also computational tools.
Vertebrate ectotherms are my main study system, with a special emphasis on amphibians and non-avian reptiles.
