DanceStep: Practice & Record Privacy Policy
Effective date: 7 October 2026
DanceStep: Practice & Record ("DanceStep") is provided by AllyApps Studio. If you have a privacy question, contact us at futurelanguagetranslator@gmail.com.
1. Information DanceStep handles
When you choose a dance video, DanceStep copies that video into the app's private storage on your device. The app also stores practice recordings, saved steps, notes, visual markers, voice narration, and generated explanation videos on your device. DanceStep does not require an account or automatically upload these videos and recordings to a DanceStep server. The Google services described below process technical app and device data; local video storage does not mean the app uses no network services.
2. Camera, microphone, and files
DanceStep asks for camera permission when you choose to record a practice video. It asks for microphone permission when you choose to record sound with a practice take or add voice narration. You can practice with imported videos without granting these permissions. When you use the Android file picker, DanceStep accesses the file you select for import or restore. Reference guide and step prompts displayed during recording are not embedded in the saved camera video. If you unmute the guide while recording with the microphone, sound from your speaker may be captured by the microphone.
3. Saving and sharing
You can choose to save an explanation video or project backup outside DanceStep, or share a video using Android's share sheet. The destination app or file provider you choose may store or transmit the file under its own privacy policy. DanceStep does not control the file after you share or save it with another provider.
4. Analytics, crash reports, and notifications
DanceStep uses Google Firebase Analytics to understand general app usage, such as screens opened and feature actions. The Analytics SDK may also collect app-instance and device identifiers, app and device information, and usage events. We do not intentionally send video files, project names, or note text as custom analytics events.
DanceStep uses Firebase Crashlytics to diagnose crashes and errors. Crashlytics may collect crash stack traces, relevant app state, device information, and installation identifiers. We do not intentionally attach dance videos or recordings to crash reports.
DanceStep uses Firebase Cloud Messaging for optional dance-tip notifications. Firebase may process installation identifiers, messaging tokens, app version, notification interactions, and technical app or device information needed for messaging. Some Firebase technical data may be processed when its SDKs initialize, even if you do not subscribe to dance tips. You can manage the optional subscription in the app and notification permission in Android settings.
5. Advertising and privacy choices
The free version of DanceStep uses Google AdMob for banner, interstitial, and app-open ads. The Google Mobile Ads SDK may collect and share an IP address, device or advertising identifiers, app interactions, and diagnostic information for ad delivery, measurement, and fraud prevention. Where required, DanceStep uses Google's User Messaging Platform to request and manage advertising privacy choices. You can reopen available privacy options from the app's Settings screen. A lifetime ad-free purchase removes ads in DanceStep.
6. Google Play purchase
If you choose the lifetime ad-free purchase, Google Play handles checkout and payment. DanceStep receives the product identifier, purchase state, and purchase token from Google Play to unlock or restore your ad-free entitlement. DanceStep stores the entitlement state on your device. We do not receive your payment-card details.
7. Data storage, retention, and deletion
Your projects remain in DanceStep's private device storage until you delete them in the app, clear the app's storage, or uninstall the app. Deleting a project removes its app-managed video copy and project information. Generated preview files may remain in app cache until a later cleanup, Android clears the cache, or the app is uninstalled. Backups and exported videos that you saved outside the app remain at the location you selected until you delete them there. Google retains service data under its own policies and settings. You can contact us at futurelanguagetranslator@gmail.com with questions about data handling.
8. Security and third-party services
DanceStep uses Android app-private storage for project files and requests camera and microphone permissions only for the features you choose to use. Files you explicitly share or export are handled by the destination you select. Google services process the technical data described above to provide analytics, crash reporting, messaging, advertising, consent management, and purchases. See Google's privacy policy at https://policies.google.com/privacy and Firebase privacy information at https://firebase.google.com/support/privacy. We do not sell your dance videos or recordings.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when DanceStep's features or data practices change. The effective date at the top of this page will show the latest update.
