I am a Postdoctoral Researcher at the University of Regensburg and a Guest Researcher at Heinrich Heine University Düsseldorf. My main research areas are sociolinguistics, phonetics and phonology, bias in automatic speech recognition, human-machine interaction, language variation and change. My recent projects have been conducted following the tradition of experimental or ethnographic sociolinguistics, where I try to combine quantitative and qualitative methods.
I got my PhD from the University of Freiburg in 2024, where I worked under the supervision of Prof. Bernd Kortmann and Prof. Christian Mair. My thesis dealt with salient sociophonetic features of New Orleans English and followed the tradition of variationist sociolintuistics.
My postdoctoral project is situated at the intersection of sociolinguistics and speech technology. It aims to investigate how users adapt their speech when interacting with dialect-sensitive versus neutral voice assistants. Currently, I am working at the chair of Prof. Jakob Leimgruber.
