UNDERPIN#2
Understanding rare events and their climatic impacts
Organized within the International School of Nonequilibrium Phenomena Directed by Prof. Bernardo Spagnolo
Ettore Majorana Foundation and Centre for Scientific Culture, Erice, Italy
🌍 Overview:
After the success of the first edition in 2022, the 2025 UNDERPIN#2 workshop aims again to unite experts from statistical physics, statistics, dynamical systems, and climate sciences to investigate persistent, high-impact climate extremes such as heatwaves, cold spells, and slow-moving cyclones, with a particular focus on the Mediterranean region. This second edition welcomes colleagues working on moving the impacts of extreme events in a changing climate, which has direct consequences for the Mediterranean. This workshop is ovrganized within the International School of Nonequilibrium Phenomena Directed by Prof. Bernardo Spagnolo, at the Ettore Majorana Foundation and Centre for Scientific Culture
📅 Date:
30-31 July, 2025 (Favignana, Trapani, miniworkshop reserved to organizers only)
01-05 August, 2025 (Erice, Trapani)
🏛️ Venue:
The workshop will be held at the Crypt of the Church of San Domenico, Piazza S. Domenico, 1, 91016 Erice.
