Coaching Staff

Derek Bischof - Head Coach

Coach Bischof is a 3-time North Dakota state high school champion who went on to wrestle for North Dakota State University. He has coached the Rattlers for over 20 years and is well versed in all three wrestling styles: Folkstyle, Freestyle and Greco-Roman. Derek is currently a middle school coach for Minot Public Schools.

Justin Racine - Assistant Head Coach

Another Minot High wrestling alumni, Justin was an assistant coach for Minot High Boys wrestling for 6 years and is the current Minot High Boys wrestling head coach. Justin led his 2017 Minot High Magicians to a 2017 state title and earned Class A Coach of the Year.

Cody Haugen

Cody was a 4-time state placer for Minot High and wrestled for Minot State University for 4 years.  He coached for the Rattlers for many seasons while attending MSU and continues to coach now alongside running his chiropractic clinic, Premier Chiropractic.  Cody also helps out with coaching for Kenmare High School.

Tim Sandstrom

Hailing from New Town, Tim began wrestling in the 8th grade and as a senior, he worked his way to 145# Region Champ and a State qualifier.  Tim brings a quiet, can-do attitude to the room and currently serves on the Rattler Board as co-President.

Kerry Lockrem

Kerry completed his wrestling years in Frazee, MN, wrestling all 4 years on varsity and was a State Placer in MN. He brings a positive attitude and patience to the room.

Joey Lopez

Growing up in Chicago, IL, Joey honed his wrestling skills before moving to Florida and becoming a 5 year Varsity wrestler and a 4 time State Qualifier.  Joey wrestled for Minot State University for 6 years and during that time, coached for both the Minot Mat Wrats and later the Dakota Rattlers.  In the 2025-2026 season, he will embark on a new adventure as an assistant coach for the Minot Boys High School Wrestling team, alongside Coach Racine.

Keegan Berry

Keegan is an MSU Beaver alumni and currently Assistant Coach for MSU Women's Wrestling.  Keegan also coached for the Rattlers for many seasons while attending MSU.

Evan Forde

The current Minot State University Head Coach brings his coaching talents to the room.  A standout wrestler from Fargo, Evan wrestled at the collegiate level for MSU-M from 2006-2011 and was Team Captain from 2009-2011.  Prior to coming to MSU, Evan was assistant coach for MSU-M.
