Having her son Majid-intellectually disabled-, Ms. Nada Thabet shifted her interest to working in the field of disability as one of the pioneers. She established with the support of her family The Village of Hope for Development and Social Rehabilitation for the Disabled to serve the disabled community in Alexandria.
She is a member of the Egyptian parliament, appointed by His Excellency President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, President of Egypt. And also, a member of: Higher Advisory Committee on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities for Education and Scientific Research and the National Council for Persons with Print Disabilities (NCPD), House of Representatives from 2021-2024 in the Solidarity, Family and Child Committee, “Sawtuna” network, and chairman of Ma’an program’s board.
She’s been a speaker in several international events on the role of women in developing societies in peace-making and development. She was a nominee of the Nobel Peace Prize in 2005, amongst 1000 women, and also a winner of Bibliotheca Alexandrina Prize for the best “Alexandrian figure” in the name of Dr. Adel Abu Zahra Award (2006 & 2008) and Woman Award on the Egyptian Women's Day by the Ministry of Culture in 2010.
