Hiroshi Kawamura chaired the Section of Libraries for the Blind / International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions (1990-1995) while he served for the University of Tokyo Library (1970-1997) as a professional librarian. He has been a Board member of the DAISY Consortium (www/daisy/org) since its establishment in 1996 till now. He was the Project Manager of the nation wide implementation of DAISY in Japan (1998-2003) when he worked for the Japanese Society for Rehabilitation of Persons with Disabilities. From 2003 through 2008, he led the DAISY For All Project to establish DAISY implementation support focal points in Thailand, India, etc. He was appointed to the Global Focal Point for Persons with Disabilities for both United Nations World Summit on the Information Society (2003-2005) and the United Nations 3rd World Conference on Disaster Risk Reduction (2015). The most current focus of his work is to implement DAISY and the WIPO Marrakesh Treaty in developing countries with strategic perspectives on promotion of born accessible publishing to realize the “Universal Literacy” of United Nations 2030 Agenda.
