Daily Step is a local-first habit and routine tracker. It helps you organize daily habits into routines and check them in with low-pressure progress tracking.
This policy explains what information Daily Step collects, stores, and shares. In the current version, Daily Step is designed to work entirely on your device and does not include advertising or analytics SDKs. It does not collect, upload, or sell your personal data.
Daily Step does not require an account and does not collect personal information such as your name, email address, phone number, or precise location.
The app stores the following data locally on your device:
Habits and routines you create, including names, descriptions, icons, colors, schedules, and reminder settings.
Check-in history such as completed, skipped, or rest-day records.
App preferences such as theme, reminder time, and notification settings.
This data is stored in on-device databases provided by Android. Daily Step does not transmit this data to any server.
Daily Step requests the following permissions only when needed:
Notifications (POST_NOTIFICATIONS): used only to show optional gentle reminders that you explicitly enable.
Boot and time-change receivers (RECEIVE_BOOT_COMPLETED, TIME_SET, TIMEZONE_CHANGED): used only to keep locally scheduled reminders aligned after reboot or timezone changes.
Daily Step does not request camera, microphone, contacts, calendar, location, or storage permissions.
Daily Step disables Android system cloud backup for app data. Your routines and check-ins are not uploaded to a cloud account by this app.
You can export your own data as a JSON file using the in-app Export action. You can also restore a previously exported JSON file using the Restore action. These actions happen only when you choose them, and the files are written to a location you select.
The current version of Daily Step does not display ads and does not include an advertising SDK. It does not use an advertising identifier or share data with an advertising provider.
Daily Step may introduce advertising in a future version. Advertising will not be enabled under this policy merely because it is mentioned here. Before any version containing advertising is released, this policy will be updated to identify the advertising provider, the purposes of processing, the data categories actually collected or shared, applicable retention practices, and the choices available to users. The Google Play Ads declaration and Data safety section will also be updated to match the released app and the selected advertising SDK configuration.
Depending on the advertising service and the user's region, a future ad-supported version may need to process device or app identifiers, IP-derived information, ad interactions, diagnostics, or other technical information. This is a description of possible future considerations, not a statement that the current version collects those data categories.
Where required by law or platform policy, Daily Step will request consent before loading advertising that uses local storage, identifiers, or personal data. It will also provide any required privacy options for reviewing or withdrawing consent. If ads are introduced for an audience that includes children, the app and its advertising providers will be reviewed against the applicable Google Play Families requirements before release.
The current version of Daily Step does not sell, rent, or share personal data with third parties. Because it does not contain analytics, advertising, or social media SDKs, it does not currently share data with those providers.
If a future version uses an advertising or other third-party SDK, data handled by that SDK will be treated as data handled by Daily Step for disclosure and compliance purposes. The relevant provider, purpose, data handling, and privacy-policy link will be disclosed before that version is released.
Daily Step does not knowingly collect personal information from children. The app stores only the habit and routine content the user creates on their own device.
Data remains on your device until you delete it. You can permanently delete habits, routines, and check-in history inside the app. Uninstalling Daily Step removes the app's local data.
Daily Step keeps data in Android's sandboxed app storage. The current version has no account system, advertising SDK, analytics SDK, or network permission, which limits exposure to common data-breach risks.
If this policy changes, the updated version will be published here with a new effective date. Material changes, including the introduction of advertising or a new third-party SDK, will be reflected in the app's store listing and disclosed in the app where required. The privacy policy and Google Play Data safety answers will be reviewed before each release that changes data handling.
