Privacy Policy
This privacy policy applies to the Tailkeep pet care app for mobile devices, together with any related services operated by Packet Bracket (collectively, the "Application"). Packet Bracket is hereby referred to as the "Service Provider".
Information Collection and Use
The Application does not require you to create an account and does not collect or transmit your name, email address, phone number, contacts, location, your pets' details or your care records to the Service Provider. The Service Provider operates no server for the Application and never receives which pets you add, what you log, when reminders fire or what you export.
Everything the Application does happens on your device. Reminders are scheduled by the Application's own scheduler using the times and dates you enter, the charts are drawn from the records stored on your device, and the suggested vaccine, deworming and grooming intervals are a fixed reference list bundled inside the Application when you install it. Nothing is streamed or downloaded, and the Application does not hold the Internet permission, so it is technically unable to send data anywhere.
The following information is stored only on your device, in the Application's private storage, and is never sent to the Service Provider:
- Pet profiles: the name, species, breed, gender, date of birth, weight, colour or markings, microchip number, neuter status and notes you enter for each pet, together with an optional photo.
- Emergency details you choose to add to a profile: allergies, blood type, emergency vet name and phone number, owner name and phone number, and insurance policy reference. These appear on the emergency card and lost-pet poster only when you create and share them.
- Care records: vaccinations (including clinic, vet and batch number), feeding schedules and feeding history, medications and dose history, vet visits and appointments (including diagnosis, treatment and cost), deworming and flea/tick treatments, weight entries and growth milestones, grooming tasks and history, expenses, and health journal notes.
- Photos you attach to a pet profile, a vet visit or a journal note. Each photo is copied into the Application's private folder at reduced size; the original in your gallery is never modified.
- Care circle: names, roles and phone numbers of people in your household that you choose to record, and which reminder categories you have assigned to them. This list is for your own reference and is not shared with those people or anyone else.
- Reminder settings: which reminder categories are on, the daily reminder time, the default vaccine warning period and the snooze length; and the list of reminders currently scheduled on the device.
- Appearance and other preferences: your chosen theme (light, dark or system), whether device colours are used, weight unit, currency symbol, the selected pet on the dashboard, whether the welcome screens have been shown and whether sample data was loaded.
The Application does not display advertisements, does not contain an advertising SDK, and does not use any analytics or crash-reporting service. It does not read your contacts, calendar or any file outside its own private storage.
Information about other people
Some fields let you record details about people other than yourself, such as a vet, a clinic, a pet sitter or a family member (for example a name and phone number). This information is stored only on your device for your own use. You are responsible for having the right to record it. It leaves the device only if you choose to share an export, emergency card or lost-pet poster that contains it.
Device features and permissions
The Application uses the following device features only to provide its core functionality:
- Notifications (POST_NOTIFICATIONS): to show the reminders you set up for feeding times, medication doses and refills, vaccine due dates, vet appointments, grooming and parasite treatments, with "Mark done", "Mark as fed" and "Snooze" actions. Reminder notifications contain the pet's name and the task, and may be visible on your lock screen according to your device settings. The Application sends no other notifications. If you deny the permission, the Application still works; only reminders are not shown.
- Alarms and exact alarms (SCHEDULE_EXACT_ALARM): to deliver reminders at the time you chose. On Android 12 and later the system may ask you to allow exact alarms; if you do not, reminders are still delivered within a short window of the chosen time. The Application never sets an alarm you did not create by adding a schedule, medication, appointment or due date.
- Run after restart (RECEIVE_BOOT_COMPLETED): to re-schedule your reminders after the device reboots, an app update, or a change of system time or time zone, because Android discards scheduled alarms in those cases. Nothing is collected during this step.
- Background work and wake lock (WAKE_LOCK): a short background task re-checks your reminders a few times a day and after you change records, so that upcoming reminders are always armed. It runs on the device only.
- Photo picker: when you add a photo, the Application opens the Android photo picker. The Application does not hold any storage or gallery permission and receives only the single image you select.
- Home-screen widget: if you add the Tailkeep widget, it shows the names of your pets and today's open tasks on your home screen. The widget reads only the Application's own database.
- Files you export or back up: PDF health records, emergency cards, lost-pet posters and backup archives are created on your device. Sharing a PDF or image opens the Android share sheet and hands the file to the app you choose; a backup archive is written to the location you pick in the system file picker. Restoring a backup reads the file you select. The Service Provider never receives these files.
- Phone dialler: the "Call" button on the emergency card opens your dialler with the emergency vet number you entered; the call is not placed until you confirm it.
- QR code on the lost-pet poster: the QR code is generated on your device and contains only the text you see next to it (pet name, species, markings, microchip number, owner name and phone number, last-seen note). Anyone who scans the printed or shared poster can read that text.
- Vibration: to give a short haptic tick when you tap certain controls, as provided by the system haptic feedback.
The Application does not use the Internet, location, camera, microphone, contacts, sensors or Bluetooth.
Links to external services
When you tap "Privacy policy" inside the Application, or a similar link, the Application hands the web address to the browser you choose on your device. From that point on, the page is handled by that browser and website under its own privacy policy, and the Service Provider does not receive any information about it. Similarly, the "Open system settings" buttons for notifications and exact alarms open the corresponding Android system screens, which are operated by your device's operating system.
Cookies and tracking technologies
The Application does not use cookies, advertising identifiers, pixels or similar tracking technologies. Where required by applicable law, the Service Provider will obtain consent before introducing any non-essential tracking technology in a future version.
Your Rights
You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data held by the Service Provider. To exercise these rights, or to withdraw consent where processing is based on consent, contact the Service Provider at packetbracket@gmail.com. Because the Service Provider does not receive your pet profiles, records, photos or preferences, these can only be viewed, corrected or deleted by you, on your device: edit or delete any record inside the Application, remove a pet to delete every record attached to it, or use "Erase all data" in Settings.
Your California privacy rights (CCPA/CPRA)
If you are a California resident, you have the right to know what personal information is collected, the right to delete personal information, the right to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information, and the right to non-discrimination for exercising these rights. The Service Provider does not sell personal information. To exercise your CCPA/CPRA rights, contact the Service Provider at packetbracket@gmail.com.
The Application does not require you to provide any personally identifiable information in order to use it. Any information you choose to send to the Service Provider, for example by email, will be retained and used only to respond to you as described in this privacy policy.
Third Party Access
The Application itself does not transmit your data to the Service Provider or to any external service. The only data that may leave your device through the Application is:
- The privacy policy web address, passed to your browser when you choose to open it.
- Files you deliberately share or save: PDF health records, emergency cards, lost-pet posters and backup archives, handed to the app or storage location you choose in the Android share sheet or file picker. Those apps and services handle the file under their own privacy policies.
- The emergency vet phone number, passed to your dialler when you tap "Call".
- Reminder text (pet name and task) shown by the Android notification system on your lock screen, notification shade and connected accessories such as a watch, in the same way as for any reminder app. This stays within your device and its paired accessories.
The Service Provider may share your information with third parties only in the ways that are described in this privacy statement.
International Data Transfers
The Service Provider or its third-party service providers may transfer personal data to countries outside your country of residence, including outside the European Economic Area (EEA). Where applicable law requires safeguards for international transfers, the Service Provider will use appropriate mechanisms.
- Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) approved by the European Commission
- Adequacy decisions or other legally recognized transfer mechanisms
- Your consent, where required and legally permitted
Data protection laws in other countries may differ from those in your jurisdiction. Where required by law, the Service Provider will apply appropriate safeguards and obtain any consent required for the transfer.
Please note that the Application relies on Android Backup (only when backups are enabled on your device). When enabled, Android may include the Application's database, photos and preferences in the encrypted backup of your device stored in your own Google account, under Google's privacy policy; the Service Provider has no access to that backup. Below is the link to that policy:
- Google Play Services: https://policies.google.com/privacy
The Application does not use Google Analytics for Firebase, Firebase Crashlytics, AdMob or any other advertising, analytics or crash-reporting service.
The Service Provider may disclose User Provided and Automatically Collected Information:
- as required by law, such as to comply with a subpoena, or similar legal process;
- when they believe in good faith that disclosure is necessary to protect their rights, protect your safety or the safety of others, investigate fraud, or respond to a government request;
- with their trusted services providers who work on their behalf, do not have an independent use of the information the Service Provider discloses to them, and have agreed to adhere to the rules set forth in this privacy statement.
Opt-Out Rights
You can stop further collection of information from your mobile device by uninstalling the Application. Uninstalling deletes the pet profiles, records, photos and preferences stored on your device (backup archives you saved elsewhere are not affected).
You can revoke the notification permission at any time in your device's app settings, or switch off individual reminder categories or all reminders inside the Application; your schedules and records are kept. You can remove the home-screen widget at any time, and you can delete any photo, record or pet inside the Application.
To request deletion of your personal data, to withdraw consent, or to exercise any of your rights, contact the Service Provider at packetbracket@gmail.com.
Data Retention Policy
The Service Provider retains personal data based on its necessity for the stated purposes:
- Pet profiles, care records, photos, care circle and preferences stored on your device: Retained only for as long as the Application is installed, or until you delete or change them inside the Application. The Service Provider never holds a copy.
- Completed-task markers and scheduled reminders: kept on the device to prevent duplicate reminders; completed-task markers older than 120 days are removed automatically.
- Exported files: PDF and image exports are kept in the Application's cache folder on your device until Android clears the cache or you uninstall; copies you shared or saved are under your control.
- Aggregated and Anonymized Data: The Application does not generate any.
- Data required for legal compliance: Retained as long as required by applicable law.
You may request deletion of your personal data, subject to any legal obligation to retain it. If you want the Service Provider to delete any information you have submitted, please contact them at packetbracket@gmail.com.
Health information
The Application stores health information about your pets (animals), not about people. It is a personal organiser and does not provide veterinary advice; the suggested vaccine, treatment and grooming intervals are general reference values that you should confirm with your vet. Any blood type, allergy or medication details you enter describe your pet.
Children
The Application is not intended for children under 16 years of age, or such higher age as required by applicable law. The Service Provider does not knowingly solicit data from children or market the Application to them.
Where parental or guardian consent is required under applicable law, the Application is not intended for use without that consent. The Service Provider does not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children under 16 years of age in violation of applicable law. In the event the Service Provider discovers that a child has provided personal information, the Service Provider will immediately delete this from their records. If you are a parent or guardian and you are aware that your child has provided the Service Provider with personal information, please contact the Service Provider (packetbracket@gmail.com) so that they will be able to take the necessary actions.
Security
The Service Provider is concerned about safeguarding the confidentiality of your information. Because the Application keeps your pet profiles, records, photos and preferences only on your device, that data is protected by your device's own security features, such as your screen lock and device encryption. Backup archives you create are ordinary files; store them somewhere you trust, because anyone with the file can restore it into a copy of the Application. The Service Provider provides physical, electronic, and procedural safeguards to protect any information it processes and maintains, such as emails you send.
Data Breach Notification
If a data breach occurs that affects your personal data, the Service Provider will notify you in accordance with applicable legal requirements, including, where required, providing information about the nature of the breach and the steps being taken to address it.
Changes
The Service Provider may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The Service Provider will notify you of material changes by posting the updated Privacy Policy with an effective date. Where required by law, the Service Provider will seek your consent to material changes before they take effect.
Previous versions of this Privacy Policy will be maintained and made available upon request by contacting the Service Provider at packetbracket@gmail.com.
This privacy policy is effective as of 2026-09-14
Your Consent
Where processing is based on consent, you provide that consent by affirmatively opting in to the relevant feature or action, for example by granting the notification permission when asked, allowing exact alarms, adding the home-screen widget, or choosing to share or back up a file. You may withdraw consent at any time without affecting processing carried out before withdrawal. Processing based on other lawful bases is carried out as described above.
