Daedus is an Android assistant app that answers with Claude, using your own Anthropic API key. Daedus has no servers and no accounts: nothing you do in Daedus is sent to its developer, except a report you choose to send. Contact: daedus.dev@proton.me.
Daedus sends data only when you ask it something, and only to the services needed to answer. It never sells data and never shows ads.
Your question, the chat so far, and Claude's reply go to Anthropic, through your own API key. Anthropic deletes them within 30 days (see below). On your phone they stay until you delete the chat.
Anything you choose to include (screen text, screenshot, a file, a photo, or a camera photo you ask about) goes to Anthropic with that question only. Files and screen content are never saved on your phone.
Contacts, calendar, texts, call history and message notifications go to Anthropic only when a question needs them, and only the items that answer that question.
Memory and custom instructions, if you turn them on, go to Anthropic with each question. On your phone they stay until you delete them.
A place name for weather goes to your phone's place-lookup service; its map coordinates go to MET Norway. Daedus doesn't keep them.
Your voice, when you use the mic, goes to your phone's speech recognition service, under that service's own rules. In the Translator, a language your phone can't hear offline can use Google's online speech, only if you agree for that language. Hands-free while charging (off unless you turn it on) listens for your wake phrase on your phone only: that audio is never recorded, saved or sent anywhere.
Chats, memory, API key and usage numbers stay only on your phone, encrypted, until you delete them or uninstall Daedus.
A report you send about a reply goes to the developer through Google Forms. Reports are kept up to 1 year, then deleted.
Anthropic (Claude). To answer you, Daedus sends your question to Anthropic's API directly from your phone, using the API key you entered. With it go the rest of that chat, the current date and time zone, and anything the answer needs: the screen text or screenshot you left switched on, a file you attached, or the contacts, calendar events, texts, call history or messages a tool looked up for that question. Your use of the API is under your own agreement with Anthropic. Anthropic says it deletes API inputs and outputs within 30 days, keeps them up to 2 years if flagged for a usage policy violation, and does not use them to train its models by default (retention, training).
MET Norway. For live weather, Daedus sends a place's map coordinates to MET Norway's forecast service (api.met.no), with Daedus's name and contact email as MET requires. Not your identity or your phone's location. You can turn live weather off in Settings → Calls, texts & live info. Web search is off by default. If you turn on Search the web (same settings page), Claude may search the web through Anthropic to answer a question; the search words Claude writes are handled by Anthropic under its policies, and the sources it used are shown under the reply.
Your phone's own services. Place names are turned into coordinates by your phone's place-lookup service, usually provided by Google. Voice questions go through your phone's speech recognition service. Replies are read aloud by the text-to-speech app you choose; some voices use the internet.
Translator. What you and the other person say or type in the Translator is sent to Anthropic to be translated, the same way as a question. Speech is turned into text on your phone. If your phone can't do that for a language (for example Tagalog), Daedus can use Google's online speech for that language only, and only after you agree; then what's said into the mic in that language is sent to Google to be turned into text, under Google's own rules. You can turn this off in the Translator's settings. The conversation is kept only until you leave the Translator, unless you tap Save to Chats.
Other apps, when you ask. When you ask Daedus to call, text, reply, navigate or open something, Daedus hands that app what it needs, like a phone number or your message.
Reports. If you report a reply, Daedus sends that reply, the reason you pick, any note you add, the model name and Daedus's version to the developer through Google Forms. Your question is not sent. Nothing is sent until you tap Send. Reports are kept for up to 1 year, then deleted.
Daedus has no analytics, advertising or tracking code.
These are stored only on your phone, encrypted with a key held in Android's hardware-backed keystore. That key can't be copied off the phone, so the files can't be read anywhere else.
Your API key. Sent only to Anthropic, with each request.
Chats. The text of your questions and Claude's replies. Screen text, screenshots and file contents are never saved, only a label like "Report.pdf (12 pages)". Lock-screen chats are never saved. Chats from the assistant panel are saved only while "Save panel chats" is on.
Memory. Only facts you ask Daedus to remember, up to 50. Daedus refuses to store passwords, PINs, card or account numbers, ID numbers, API keys and verification codes.
Reminders. What each reminder says and when it's due, until it goes off or you cancel it. They're shown only as Daedus notifications on your phone.
Parking spot. Only if you say "remember where I parked": that one spot's map position, the time, and any note you add, until you save a new one or say "forget where I parked".
Widget answer. Only if you turn on "Show the last answer on the widget": your latest answer, shortened, so the home screen widget can show it. It's never from the lock screen, and turning the setting off deletes it.
Usage numbers. Tokens and estimated cost per day and model, for up to 13 months. No questions or replies.
Settings, including custom instructions, your monthly budget, and the API balance you enter (if you use the balance estimate).
Messages from other apps (only if you turn on Message notifications) are held in memory, not saved to storage, for 24 hours at most, and are gone when Daedus closes. Verification codes are always hidden. You choose which apps Daedus reads.
Daedus asks for each permission the first time a question needs it, never all at once, and explains what's shared before Android asks you. Most have a Daedus switch in Settings → Permissions that turns Daedus's use off even when Android allows it.
Camera: to take photos when you ask, like "what am I looking at?" or "take a picture". Shared: only a photo you ask about, with that question.
Music and audio: to find songs saved on your phone when you ask to play one. Not shared: the search happens on your phone.
Microphone: to hear voice questions, and, only if you turn on Hands-free while charging, to listen for your wake phrase while your phone is plugged in. Shared with Anthropic: only the words of your question that your phone's speech service recognized, never audio.
Calendar (read): to answer questions about your schedule. Shared: the events that answer that question.
Contacts: to call, text or look up people by name. Shared: the matching names and numbers.
Texts (read): to read and summarize your text messages, only while Daedus is your default assistant. Shared: the messages that answer that question.
Call history: to answer who called, and to call back, only while Daedus is your default assistant. Shared: the calls that answer that question.
Notification access: to read and reply to messages from chat apps you pick, and to pause, play or skip what's playing (like YouTube) when you ask. Shared: the messages that answer that question; playback controls share nothing.
Place calls, send texts: only if you turn on direct calls or texts, after a countdown you can cancel. From the lock screen only if you also turn on "Allow calls and texts while locked" (off by default): Daedus says who and what out loud and waits so you can say "cancel", and you can limit it to your favorite contacts. These are handled on your phone. Nothing extra is shared.
Digital assistant (Android setting): to open from any app and, if you allow it in Android, see the screen text and screenshot. Shared: screen content only with the question you ask, and only while its switch is on.
Camera: used only while Daedus's camera screen is open. A photo you ask about ("what am I looking at?") goes to Anthropic with that question and isn't saved to your gallery. Pictures you take ("take a picture") are saved only in your phone's gallery and never shared. The last camera photo stays in Daedus's temporary storage until your next photo or until Daedus restarts, so you can say "save this picture". "Save a screenshot" saves the screen behind the assistant panel to your gallery; it isn't shared.
Hands-free while charging (Settings → Assistant & voice, off by default): while your phone is plugged in, Daedus keeps the microphone on, even when Daedus is closed and the screen is off, to listen for your wake phrase (for example "hey computer"). This listening happens entirely on your phone, with a speech model that ships with Daedus and can only recognize your wake phrase and your stop phrase (for example "stop listening"). The audio isn't recorded, saved, or sent to Anthropic, the developer, or anyone else; only the last few seconds are held in the phone's memory so Daedus can double-check that it really heard the phrase, and they're discarded right after. A notification shows the whole time it's listening, with a Stop listening button; saying your stop phrase does the same, turning the mic off until you unplug. When the phone is unplugged, the mic is off. When Daedus hears the wake phrase, the assistant panel opens and your question is handled like any other voice question (above).
Music and audio: used only to find songs saved on your phone when you ask ("play Joker on Music Player"). Daedus reads song titles, artists and albums on the phone and hands the song to your music app; nothing is sent to Anthropic.
Photos and files are picked with Android's own pickers, so Daedus sees only the one you choose. Notifications and Alarms & reminders: used only to show the reminders you set, at their time. Reminders stay on your phone; only a reminder request Daedus can't understand on its own goes to Anthropic, as a normal question. Location: used only while you ask ("remember where I parked", "where did I park?", "where am I?"), never in the background, and never sent to Anthropic. "Where am I?" turns your position into a street address with your phone's address service (usually Google's), and directions to your car open in your maps app. Do Not Disturb access, Modify system settings and Nearby devices: used only to change Do Not Disturb, the ringer and screen brightness, and to show Android's Bluetooth on/off prompt, when you ask. Daedus doesn't scan for or connect to devices, and nothing is shared.
You can delete everything Daedus stores, at any time, from inside the app:
One chat or all chats: the Chats list. Settings → Chats can also delete chats you haven't used in 7 or 30 days.
Memory: Settings → Answers & model → Memory: delete one fact or clear all.
Reminders: say "cancel all reminders", or cancel one by name ("cancel the bank reminder").
Parking spot: say "forget where I parked".
Messages from other apps: Settings → Permissions → Clear, or turn the switch off (cleared right away).
Usage numbers: Settings → API key & usage → Usage & budget → Clear.
API key: Settings → API key & usage → Remove key.
Everything: uninstall Daedus, or clear its storage in Android Settings → Apps → Daedus.
What Anthropic received is kept under Anthropic's policies (above) and your agreement with them. To ask about it, contact Anthropic. Daedus's developer has no copy to delete, except reports you sent.
Everything Daedus sends goes over encrypted connections (HTTPS). Stored data is encrypted as described above. Daedus shows fewer tools on the lock screen, never shares screen content from it, and never saves lock-screen chats. Calls and texts from the lock screen are off unless you turn them on.
Daedus is meant for adults. It isn't directed to children, and it needs your own Anthropic API account, which has its own age requirements.
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted at this address with a new date, and Daedus will point out important changes in the app.
Free trial and purchases. To give each phone one 7-day Premium trial, Daedus sends our license server a one-way scrambled code made from an ID Android gives the app. It can't be turned back into the ID and isn't linked to your name, number or Google account. The server stores only that code and the date your trial started. When you buy Premium, Daedus sends Google Play's purchase receipt to our server, which asks Google whether it's valid. The receipt isn't stored.
