The tongues, of course, are where the tongue drum gets its name, but what do the tongues do exactly? In a way, the tongues are like the individual strings of a guitar or the keys on a piano. They are what allows the instrument to create rhythms or melodies. Each tongue is tuned to a specific note. The weight, width and length of the tongue determines the sound and pitch of the note. To play a note, you must hit a tongue with your fingers, hands or a mallet. The drum itself amplifies the sound and is released through the slits of the tongues. When you hit more than one tongue at a time, you create a chord. By mixing and matching the notes and chords on the steel tongue drum, you can create beautifully sounding melodies. The best part is, you need little to no musical instrument experience or knowledge to make your steel tongue drum sound good! This is because of the special way steel tongue drums are tuned.

Generally speaking, the manufacturer will indicate which scale the drum is tuned to. These tunings tend to be static; however, if you do possess some understanding of music theory and can work a chromatic electronic tuner, you also have the option of purchasing a tuneable tongue drum. Tuneable tongue drums allow the player to change the scale of the instrument. This is often done so by adding weights, usually neodymium magnets, beneath the tongues. Having a tuneable tongue drum, or even a double-sided tongue drum, gives you a wider range of notes to play and create with.

Here are 5 Free software to Play Drums on PC for those who have a passion of playing drums all time. These websites will help you with virtual drums, play drums, basically let you become a drummer. Lets get into details of each website.

You can use it while the song plays. There is an interesting feature in the drums application for sing along. In this interesting feature you can open a MIDI file and mute the drum segment in the music file. You can practice in this way along with complete orchestra while your favorite song play with rest of the instrument beat.

Play Drums is a simple Mozilla add-on for the Firefox users. The add-on lets you play drums with keyboard. The add-on does not prove any thing helpful for drummers but still a good choice for all who like to play with drums over computer. You can easily download this add-on on your computer and use this add-on for free.

However, using this free add-on is not as impressive as using other drum software. However, it is good for playing drum sounds when you are doing anything with your computer. This simple Mozilla add-on is a free application for everyone who loves playing with drums and keyboards.

Virtual Drums from cyber town is another free drum sound producing application for users playing drums. This freeware is simple and does not need any download or registrations. You can play sounds of the drums virtually by just clicking on your mouse buttons. The application has eight drum set sound types for the users to beat the music.

The bellows is the most recognizable part of the instrument, and the primary means of articulation. The production of sound in an accordion is in direct proportion to the motion of the bellows by the player. In a sense, the role of the bellows can be compared to the role of moving a violin's bow on bowed strings. For a more direct analogy, the bellows can be compared to the role of breathing for a singer. The bellows is located between the right- and left-hand keyboards, and is made from pleated layers of cloth and cardboard, with added leather and metal.[20] It is used to create pressure and vacuum, driving air across the internal reeds and producing sound by their vibrations, applied pressure increases the volume.

The accordion's body consists of two boxes, commonly made of wood, joined by the bellows. These boxes house reed chambers for the right- and left-hand keyboards. Each side has grilles in order to facilitate the transmission of air in and out of the instrument, and to allow the sound to project. The grille at the right-hand side is usually larger and is often shaped for decorative purposes. The right-hand keyboard is normally used for playing the melody and the left-hand one for playing the accompaniment; however, skilled players can reverse these roles and play melodies with the left hand.[notes 6]

Different systems are also in use for the left-hand keyboard, which is normally used for playing the accompaniment. These usually use distinct bass buttons and often have buttons with concavities or studs to help the player navigate the layout despite not being able to see the buttons while playing. There are three general categories:

The larger piano and chromatic button accordions are usually heavier than other smaller squeezeboxes, and are equipped with two shoulder straps to make it easier to balance the weight and increase bellows control while sitting, and avoid dropping the instrument while standing. Other accordions, such as the diatonic button accordion, have only a single shoulder strap and a right hand thumb strap. All accordions have a (mostly adjustable) leather strap on the left-hand side to keep the player's hand in position while drawing the bellows. There are also straps above and below the bellows to keep it securely closed when the instrument is not being played.

The accordion appeared in popular music from the 1900s to the 1960s. This half-century is often called the "golden age of the accordion".[36] Five players, Pietro Frosini, the two brothers Count Guido Deiro and Pietro Deiro and Slovenian brothers Vilko Ovsenik and Slavko Avsenik, Charles Magnante were major influences at this time.[37]

Accordionists in heavy metal music make their most extensive appearances in the folk metal subgenre, and are otherwise generally rare. Full-time accordionists in folk metal seem even rarer, but they are still utilized for studio work, as flexible keyboardists are usually more accessible for live performances. The Finnish symphonic folk-metal band Turisas used to have a full-time accordionist, employing classical and polka sensibilities alongside a violinist. One of their accordionists, Netta Skog, is now a member of Ensiferum, another folk-metal band. Another Finnish metal band, Korpiklaani, invokes a type of Finnish polka called humppa, and also has a full-time accordionist. Sarah Kiener, the former hurdy-gurdy player for the Swiss melodic-death-folk metal band Eluveitie, played a Helvetic accordion known as a zugerrgeli.[citation needed]

Every year in April, Colombia holds one of the most important musical festivals in the country: the Vallenato Legend Festival. The festival holds contests for best accordion player. Once every decade, the "King of Kings" accordion competition takes place, where winners of the previous festivals compete for the highest possible award for a vallenato accordion player: the Pilonera Mayor prize.[66] This is the world's largest competitive accordion festival.

In our constant endeavor to oust the computer from the world of modular we have come up with another module that replaces sequencer software. OK, a DAW MIDI player is still preferable to play the MIDI that Sequarallel can record, but modular clocked MIDI, tracker sequences, and Layered MIDI can be recorded directly from a keyboard or controller if that's more your application.

There is enough on-board memory to record many hours of MIDI sequences, loops, layers, and tracks.

I have designed and built a few MIDI-controlled stage lighting fixtures to run during loaded backing for songs I performed, plus elaborate software control requiring only a 3 digit number be entered and everything loads up. At that time a good part of the the audio processing and MIDI instruments were software based but mixed with hardware like Korgs & Yamaha synths/drums. All of this controlled via MIDI from the PC. So to pull the PC out of the loop, and get total control over my TC Helicon VoiceLive Touch 2 vocal FX unit, I designed a pedal board called "Pedal 7" (shown right>>)

This combines manual and automatic control over 4 MIDI I/O, modular interfacing, sample player, running tap-tempo, and a great sequencer to meld it all together.

That sequencer is what I based the Sequarallel on.

The last few decades have seen a veritable industrial revolution in the technology of the bass drum pedal. Where we used to have really only two or three choices in pedal design, with every major manufacturer making their pedal relatively that same way, we now have a plethora of pedals to choose from, with companies that specialize in bass drum pedals, rather than just making them as an accessory to the drums that they sell.

Chain drive is when there is a chain in place of the single metal shaft connecting the footboard and the cam. This option, while still fast, will give a slightly smoother feel to the operation of the pedal than direct drive and is often the favorite of the all-around player.

Utilitarian is the word that best describes the Yamaha P-9500. This is the Honda Accord of bass drum pedals. The pedal is built to function for anyone and everyone, and built to last. The frame has a stabilizer bar that is built into the frame to keep the bearings aligned and keep the pedal functioning the same, no matter what the circumstances. The beater angle and footboard angle are independently adjustable, making the pedal suitable for a wide variety of players, and there are both a direct drive and an interchangeable chain/strap drive model allowing for a mid-price range pedal that can please anyone.
