This unit is a DAC and needs to be connect to the line level input of an amplifier! For more info visit the DAC/Amp Basics
Your PC or laptop has no optical output, but the you really need to get rid of the interference...the Sabre USB DAC is the cheapest way to achieve that at a relatively low price point and surprisingly good specs. The implementation of the SA9023 Savitech USB receiver allows up to 96kHz sample rates and the Sabre ES9023 DAC chip offers 112dB dynamic range with low jitter. Please be aware that even if that's a 3.5mm output, you are not really supposed to hook up your headphones to this DAC. The Sabre DAC is supposed to be connected via 3.5mm>RCA to your amplifier's line input.
A neat feature of this little thing is that it also functions as USB to optical converter and outputs S/PDIF via 3.5mm mini Toslink.
You already spent too much $$$ on your amp...now you need a budget DAC that outputs line level.
