BIOGRAPHY.

Born in Vyrantium as the youngest child of the Renata family, Cornelia's childhood was one of privilege and luxury. Her family were renowned in the Imperium, her great-aunt was a Magister, and the rest of her kin were hardly nobodies either. She had good memories of her childhood, spent between the various properties the Renata family owned in Tevinter, mainly Vyrantium and Minrathous. 

 As a scion of such a noble family, high hopes were placed on Cornelia from birth. This only increased when her magic manifested itself.

She initially was sent to study in the Minrathous Circle. Her name opened a lot of doors for her that others didn't get the chance at and this niggled in the back of her mind occassionally. Then her great-aunt, Zara Renata, wanted to take her on as an apprentice for private tutoring. Apparently she believed she could mold Cornelia into a future Magister just like she was. Cornelia moved from the Minrathous Circle, where she had been studying, to instead live with her great-aunt. It was an open secret within the family that Zara was a blood mage. 

She lived with Zara for several years and those years were not ones Cornelia liked to remember. Her great-aunt was a Tevinter supremicist, embedded into a group known as "Venatori" and she intended to mold Cornelia into a younger version of herself. Cornelia, however, had no interest in either blood magic or in "restoring" Tevinter. The only thing the two could get along about was their mutual fascination with studying demonology. Once becoming a fully-fledged Enchanter, Cornelia became her great-aunt's full-time research assistant into the intricacies of spirits, demons, and abominations. Zara, however, was still insistant that she take the final step and start getting more "practical" experience.

Her life as she knew it abruptly shattered when news came back from the front that Theon, her twin brother, had been killed. Suddenly jolted, Cornelia realised that she hated her current life. She hated living with Zara and being a party to whatever depravity she got up to. She hated the expectations that came with her family name. She hated the thought that people only saw her as an extension of her family and not for herself. Upon returning to Vyrantium for the funeral, Cornelia got into an explosive argument with her parents and when she left the family villa, it was without any intetion to ever go back.

It took her a while to find a second calling. Eventually, she found it with the Grey Wardens. A part of her wanted to make up for all the evils she had been a party to under her aunt and another part of her wanted to do something worthy of being remembered. Once the Joining ritual was performed, Cornelia Renata was dead and instead Cornelia Thorne emerged from her wake.
