If you want a direct replacement for a broken third brake light on your 2007-2013 Silverado or Sierra, choose Cxdar Third 3rd; if you need a full aesthetic upgrade to give your Jeep Grand Cherokee a bold, customized smoked look, choose Hoolcar 7Pcs.
• Cxdar Third 3rd: Its biggest strength is being a functional, plug-and-play replacement designed specifically for high-mount stop lights on GM trucks, but it is strictly a single unit repair part with no styling changes beyond the LED array itself.
• Hoolcar 7Pcs: Its biggest strength is transforming the entire rear profile of a Jeep with a coordinated set of seven smoked covers, but it is purely cosmetic and requires your existing lights to be in working order first.
• Who is Cxdar for? Truck owners with 2007–2013 models who have lost their center roof lamp and need a durable, weather-resistant fix.
• Who is Hoolcar for? Jeep enthusiasts with 2014–2020 Grand Cherokees looking to darken their rear lighting for a sleeker, more aggressive garage-ready appearance.
This product is built for one specific job: restoring visibility and safety when the original high-mount stop light fails. The Cxdar Third 3rd is engineered as a direct fitment for the 2007 through 2013 Chevy Silverado and GMC Sierra 1500, 2500HD, and 3500HD lines. If your truck has that central red lens sitting on the cab roof, this is the exact shape you need. It is not a universal adapter; it is a tailored solution for these specific generations of heavy-duty workhorses. Note that this unit explicitly does not fit the 2007 Classic models, so checking your specific model year and body style is the first step before buying.
The design prioritizes durability in harsh conditions. The housing is constructed from sturdy ABS plastic, which provides a robust shell against road debris and impact. The lens itself is paired with an IP65 waterproof rating, meaning the well-sealed cover offers significant resistance against water, dust, and snow. This sealing is critical for a component mounted high up on the vehicle where exposure to the elements is constant. By keeping moisture out, the manufacturer aims to greatly prolong the lifetime of the internal electronics compared to cheaper, unsealed alternatives. Inside, the dual-row LED configuration ensures low power consumption while delivering a bright, distinct appearance that stands out from older halogen bulbs.
Installation is marketed as a straightforward "plug and play" experience, which appeals to DIYers who want to avoid complex wiring. This suggests the housing, while tough, can be brittle if subjected to excessive torque during assembly. A professional installation is also suggested for those who are unsure about handling the trim pieces without damage. Ultimately, this is a utilitarian part for anyone who needs their brake light functioning again for legal compliance and safety, rather than someone looking to change the style of their truck.

In stark contrast to the functional repair nature of the Cxdar, the Hoolcar 7Pcs is entirely about visual transformation. This kit is designed exclusively for the 2014–2020 Jeep Grand Cherokee, offering a complete set of seven decorative covers. Instead of replacing a broken bulb, you are applying a skin to your existing lighting system. The set includes covers for the rear taillights, the fog lights, and the third brake light area. The goal here is to create a unified, smoked black aesthetic that gives the vehicle a high-class, fashion-forward decor style. It allows owners to customize the exterior of their SUV without the expense or complexity of buying new aftermarket light assemblies.
The installation method relies on adhesive backing, which makes the process accessible to most car owners without requiring specialized tools. You simply need to clean and dry the surface of your lights before pressing the pieces into place. This adhesive approach is a double-edged sword; it offers convenience but requires patience to ensure a bubble-free application. The instructions emphasize testing each piece before final attachment, which is a smart precaution given the precise fit required for these multi-piece sets. It is crucial to understand that these are not replacements. They are overlays meant to enhance the exterior styling. The factory lights must remain fully visible and operational underneath these covers for the modification to be safe and legal.
This product fits the driver who views their vehicle as a statement piece, particularly for garage storage or weekend cruising. It transforms the rear of the Grand Cherokee from a stock factory look to something darker and more aggressive. The seven-piece count ensures that every major light cluster gets the same treatment, creating a cohesive look rather than a mismatched patchwork of tinted and clear lenses. If your taillights are still working perfectly but you just hate the way they look, this is the solution. It is a non-invasive way to change the personality of your Jeep without touching the electrical system or removing the actual light units.
• Best for Functional Repair → Cxdar Third 3rd: If your center brake light is cracked or dead, this is the only option that actually restores the function.
• Best for Aesthetic Customization → Hoolcar 7Pcs: If your lights work fine but you want a smoked, darkened look, this set delivers the style upgrade.
• Vehicle Compatibility → Cxdar (GM Trucks): Only fits 2007–2013 Silverado/Sierra; completely useless for Jeeps or other brands.
• Vehicle Compatibility → Hoolcar (Jeep SUVs): Exclusively for 2014–2020 Grand Cherokee; will not fit GM trucks or other vehicles.
• Weather Resistance Priority → Cxdar: Built with IP65 waterproofing and sealed ABS housing to withstand rain and snow directly.
• Ease of Installation → Hoolcar: Uses simple adhesive backing, though surface prep is critical for long-term hold.
• Complexity of Parts → Cxdar: A single unit that replaces the entire light assembly mechanism.
• Complexity of Parts → Hoolcar: Seven separate pieces that must be aligned perfectly to look right.
• Durability Focus → Cxdar: Designed to be a permanent fixture that protects internal LEDs from the elements.
• Style Focus → Hoolcar: Designed to alter color and reflectivity without changing the internal components.
I would buy the Cxdar Third 3rd if I were driving a 2010 Silverado with a broken roof light, because nothing else fixes the safety issue. However, for the purpose of garage storage and making a vehicle look its best, I recommend the Hoolcar 7Pcs for a 2018 Grand Cherokee owner. The smoked finish creates a cohesive, premium look that turns a standard SUV into a standout vehicle without compromising functionality. Both products excel in their specific lanes, but the Hoolcar set offers the more satisfying visual payoff for those who already have working lights.
