  1. FRC event at Walt Whitman HS in Bethesda, MD on March 9th & 10th
    • Depart CVHS by 7:10 AM, return to CVHS by 9:00ish PM
  2. FRC event at McDonogh School in Owings Mill, MD on March 16th & 17th
    • Depart CVHS by 6:15 AM, return to CVHS by 10:00ish PM
  3. FRC event at Oxon Hill HS in Oxon Hill, MD on March 23th & 24th
    • Depart CVHS by 7:00 AM, return to CVHS by 9:00ish P

We need parents/guardians to volunteer to drive students to and from competitions, please sign up here:

Championships:

  • APRIL 10-13: District Championships at George Mason University (set-up Wed, practice day on Thursday, competition on Fri & Sat)
  • APRIL 24-27: FIRST Championship in Detroit

(We hope to send the whole team to compete at both. If not, we will be sending a group of students to volunteer at Mason & to volunteer and present a workshop at the FIRST Championship)

PARENT VOLUNTEER FORMS:

  • We desperately NEED parent volunteers who can help chaperone and mentor on build days. All adults who volunteer regularly MUST get fingerprinted and badged by FCPS. You will need the HR-8 and HR-3 forms linked below.
  • FCPS requires volunteers and mentors who meet with students on a frequent and regular basis to have a background check because "student safety is of utmost importance." For more info on FCPS volunteer policy, go to their website here.
  • Download the HR-8 FORM and HR-3 FORM. Once these are filled out, please sign and send in to Mr. Small (may be submitted via email to oasmall@fcps.edu).

REQUIRED STUDENT FORMS:

PLEASE PRINT, COMPLETE, AND RETURN THESE FORMS (or ask your student to pick up paper forms from Mr. Small):

  • Field trip form
  • Emergency Care Form
    • We MUST have this form on file by OCTOBER 5th for students to participate in robotics.
    • You can download a completed copy of the form from the WeCare@school section of Blackboard; be sure to sign this form before sending it in.

  • PLEASE help by asking your employer if they can support our FIRST robotics team
    • If you need to serve as a mentor to qualify for funds, we are glad to welcome you in whatever mentor role you are comfortable in! We appreciate parent help with planning, organizing, and interviewing students, as well as serving as technical (mechanical, electrical, programming) mentors.

  • FTC Build Schedule:
    • 1/7-1/12: Building on Mon, Wed, Fri, Sat
    • 1/14-2/1: FTC Build days for teams going to state championship ONLY on Mondays and Fridays (FTC high school teams should participate in FRC on other days!!)
  • FTC competitions remaining:
    • South Lakes FTC Qualifer: Sun 1/13
    • FTC State Championship: Sat 2/2

FRC Build Season Schedule:

  • Mondays 3-6
  • Tuesdays 3-6
  • Wednesdays 3-6
  • Thursdays 3-6
  • Fridays 3-7
  • Saturdays 12-6

Exceptions to the build schedule:

  • FRI JAN 18 (3 hour early release): 12-6
  • MON JAN 21 (MLK Jr. Day): 12-6
  • FRI JAN 25 (teacher workday): 12-6
  • MON FEB 4 (no school, but Mr. Small in PD): 3-6
  • MON, FEB 18 (President's Day): 12-8
  • TUES, FEB 19 (STOP BUILD DAY): 3 - 12:30
