2026 CVE Art Show Display
The CVE Quilt Club is a year-round quilting and sewing club established in 2024. For many years, the Sewing Room has been an open sewing room for residents, equipped with Singer sewing machines. In 2024, CenClub upgraded the space by replacing the older machines with new, state-of-the-art Brother sewing machines, enhancing the experience for all who use the room.
Under the leadership of President Roseann Huddleston and Vice-President Alice Santiago, the club has grown to 50 CVE resident members, including two male quilters.
The Quilt Club meets twice weekly on Monday and Thursday afternoons. Members work on individual projects, participate in instructional workshops covering a variety of quilting and sewing topics, and enjoy a collaborative, creative environment.
In addition to personal projects, the Club is actively involved in creating donation quilts for many charitable organizations such as Project Linus, a nonprofit organization that donates handmade quilts to children in need. Project Linus was founded in 1995, with headquarters in Belton, Missouri, and now has chapters in all 50 states. The CVE Quilt Club partners with the South Florida Chapter of Project Linus.
Through this partnership, quilts are donated to several local organizations, including:
Broward County Children’s Home Society
Broward Hospital in Coral Springs
Broward County – Women in Distress
JAFCO (Jewish Adoption & Foster Care Options)
Since beginning this initiative in Summer 2025, the CVE Quilt Club has completed and donated 25 quilts to Project Linus, one to the CVE Cancer Relay for Life, 12 to the Hospice of Boca Raton and 1 to the CVE Art Club. As the Linus Project is an ongoing program, many more quilts will continue to be lovingly created and donated to support children in need.
