Juan Sempere-Valverde

Academic degrees:

Juan got his Bachelor Degree in Biological Sciences from the University of Seville in year 2015, and a Master Degree in Biodiversity & Conservation Biology from the University Pablo de Olavide (Seville, Spain) in 2016. His Master's thesis was titled "Recruitment and development of marine assemblages on artificial substrata: which is the best material to prevent loss of biodiversity?", which qualified outstanding (9.6/10).

After finishing his master, Juan kept collaborating with the Marine Biology Laboratory of the Department of Zoology of the University of Seville, were he started his PhD in 2018 in the framework of a grant from the Spanish Government. His PhD is scoped to the topic of the ecological impacts of hard coastal defense structures, particularly marinas, on the coastal marine communities and is titled "The Importance of Marinas in the Establishment and Dispersion of Invasive Species". Juan's PhD is supervised by prof. José Manuel Guerra-García, with Dr. Free Espinosa Torre and prof. José Carlos García-Gómez as co-supervisors.
