CutEdit — Privacy Policy

CutEdit ("we", "our", "the app") is a video editing application for Android, available with Free, Personal, and Business subscription plans. This privacy policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information.
1. Information We Collect
CutEdit processes your videos, audio, and images locally on your device. Your videos and audio are never uploaded. The only exception is the Model Look feature (Business plan), where the image you choose is sent for AI generation, as described in Section 1(g).
However, the app uses third-party services that may collect certain data, and certain features involve limited data processing as described below.
a) Advertising We use a third-party advertising service to display ads, including banner ads and rewarded ads (shown to Free plan users). This service may collect:
Advertising ID (Google Advertising ID)
Approximate location (IP-based)
Device information (model, OS version)
App interaction data (ad views, clicks)

b) Analytics We use a third-party analytics service to understand how users interact with the app, such as which features are used most. This service may collect:
Anonymous usage events (e.g., "Trim feature used", "Export completed")
Device type and OS version
App version
No personally identifiable information is collected through analytics.
c) AI Caption Suggestions (Business plan only) For Business plan users, CutEdit offers AI-generated caption suggestions for exported reels. To generate these, we send Google's AI service, through our backend, limited text information, such as: product category, text you've added to your video, and details from your Brand Kit (shop name, call-to-action).
Only text is sent — your video, audio, and image files are never transmitted for this feature. This text is used solely to generate caption suggestions and is not stored by us after the request completes. This feature uses Google's free-of-charge service tier, under which Google may use the submitted text to improve its products and services, and the text may be reviewed by human reviewers. Do not include sensitive personal information in text you add to your video if you use this feature.
d) On-Device Content Analysis Some features analyze a frame of your video directly on your device to help identify content type (e.g., recognizing a product category to suggest better filters or captions). This analysis happens entirely on your device — nothing is sent to us or any third party as part of this process.
e) Asset Downloads (Filters & Music) The app downloads optional filter presets (LUTs) and royalty-free music tracks from our content delivery network so you can use them in your edits. This is a one-way download — no information about you or your media is sent as part of this process.
f) Subscriptions & Billing CutEdit offers Free, Personal, and Business subscription plans. All payments are processed entirely by Google Play Billing — we do not receive or store your payment details (card numbers, billing address, etc.). We only receive confirmation of your subscription status (active plan and expiry) to unlock the relevant features.
Subscriptions can be managed, changed, or cancelled anytime through your Google Play Store account settings. Refunds are subject to Google Play's refund policies.
g) Model Look: AI Image Generation (Business plan only)
Model Look lets Business plan users generate AI images ("looks") to use in their reels. When you generate a look, the image and instructions you choose to submit are sent through our backend service to Google's AI image generation service, which creates the result and returns it to your device.
We do not store the images you submit or the images generated on our servers. Google processes this data on our behalf under its paid service terms, under which Google states it does not use your content or the generated output to improve its products or train its models. Google may retain data for a limited period as described in its terms, for purposes such as abuse prevention and legal compliance.
Generated looks are saved on your device. On Android 10 and above, a copy is also saved to Pictures/CutEdit in your gallery so you can restore it later. This gallery copy is not removed when you uninstall the app. You can re-import saved looks using "Restore saved looks from gallery", which uses Android's Photo Picker; we only access images you select. Only submit images you have the right to use and, for images of other people, their consent (see our Terms).
h) Subscription Verification & Usage Limits (Business plan)
To confirm your Business subscription and enforce usage limits on AI features (Model Look and AI captions), the app sends your Google Play purchase token and an app-generated install identifier to our backend service. The purchase token is verified with Google Play. We store only usage counters (the number of successful AI generations per day and month, and overall service limits) linked to these identifiers. They contain no name, email, or phone number and are used only to verify subscription status, enforce limits, and prevent abuse.
2. Brand Kit Information (Business Plan)
If you use the Brand Kit feature, information such as your shop name, phone number, logo, and call-to-action preference is stored locally on your device. This information is used only to:
Personalize the videos you export (e.g., branded end cards)
Provide context to the AI caption suggestion feature described above
This information is never sold, shared with advertisers, or used for any purpose other than personalizing your own content.
3. How We Use Information
To display relevant advertisements (Free plan)
To understand app usage and improve features
To generate AI caption suggestions (Business plan)
To verify and manage your subscription
To ensure the app functions properly
To generate AI images (Model Look, Business plan)
To enforce usage limits and prevent abuse of AI features
4. Data Storage
Your videos, audio files, extracted frames, and exported reels remain on your device at all times, saved to local folders such as Movies/CutEdit, Music/CutEdit, and Pictures/CutEdit. Your videos and audio are never uploaded. Images you submit to Model Look are sent for processing as described in Section 1(g) but are not stored by us. We have no access to your exported media. Looks you generate are saved on your device, with a copy in Pictures/CutEdit on Android 10 and above.
5. Third-Party Services
This app uses third-party services for advertising, analytics, AI text and image generation, backend hosting, and subscription billing, each governed by their own privacy policies. Google Play Services and Billing are used to manage app distribution and subscriptions:

6. Children's Privacy
CutEdit is not intended for children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
7. Data Deletion
We do not store your media files, or images submitted to or generated by Model Look, on our servers. Text sent for AI captions is processed per request and not retained by us. We store only the usage counters described in Section 1(h); you can request their deletion by emailing us. Google processes AI requests under its own terms (see Sections 1(c) and 1(g)). You can:
Uninstall the app to remove all locally stored data (including Brand Kit info)
Reset your Advertising ID or opt out of personalized ads via Settings > Google > Ads on your device
Delete looks you no longer want inside the app. Note that gallery copies saved in Pictures/CutEdit are not removed when you uninstall; delete them from your gallery.
8. Permissions
CutEdit requests the following permissions:
Storage/Media access: To read, edit, and save video, audio, and image files
Internet: To display ads, send anonymous analytics, download filters/music, generate AI captions (Business plan), and verify subscription status

9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected on this page with an updated date.
