T4A/B opto cell EL panels available for your T4A/B builds or repairs on the LA2A, LA3A leveling amplifiers used for studio mastering and tracking.

These EL panels have been manufactured to duplicate the original panel specifications regarding frequency response, AC voltages and have undergone optical matching with a original sample. Our panels can be used as a drop in replacement for any Urei /Teletronix T4A or B opto cells and others. The phosphor color of the EL panel will influence the response of the photo resistor cell as either being fast or slow.

T4B Circuit boards

NEW PCB's : Black soldermask, plated thru holes, 1.2mm thickness, clearly silked markings.

New pcb design with .0047/100v cap or 2,2meg resistor integrated to solder to the pcb board instead of soldering onto the EL panel leads and fastening with zip tie ( no zip tie needed ) . This option has been well received by DIY builders. The 2.2meg resistor supports the early T4B circuit layout , two options one pcb.

These photo cells are custom manufactured here in US by subsidiary of Silonex ( the original supplier to Urei after Clairex ) and are not like the faster NSL5910 variant or ones regularly found thru various big name electronics distributorships, discount liquidators,parts brokers or Ebay. This photocell has a more relaxed signature curve to model the older Clairex photo cell behavior. This cell shares the same T0-8 hermetic package found on the NSL5910 and is optimized to fit our T4 pcb board and can be used as a Urei/Teletronix drop in replacement with no modification. Light sources can be EL Panel, LED or others.

The T4B the housing can be made inexpensively with a male octal socket relay housing and octal header. When using a relay housing, used or new, the housing cover must not allow any light into the opto cell circuit. Some relay housings are clear plastic and need to be finished to block any light from entering the opto cell circuit. A normal octal tube socket for vacuum tubes can be utilized as the female socket for the T4B male 8 pin octal plug. Relay sockets are also useful & available for point to point wiring.

Last on the list , you will need to aquire the NSL5910 photocells and a film capacitor .0047/100V. Keep in mind , Photocells for this T4B opto cell are selected to give a response curve that is referred to as smooth, no irregular characteristics in a response curve when activated.
