Who are we?
We're a group of students interested in logic at CUNY Graduate Center! We organize reading groups, talks, and social events!
Speaker Series
2026Spring
Graham Priest (CUNY), “Logic as applied mathematics”, 05/08, 1–3pm, Room5409,
The word ‘logic’ has many senses. Here I will understand it as meaning an account of what follows from what and why. With contemporary methodology, logic in this sense—though it may not always have been thought of in this way—is a branch of applied mathematics. This has various implications for how one understands a number of epistemological issues concerning logic. In this talk I will explain this perspective of logic, and explore some of its consequences.
Péter Susánszky (CUNY), “Model-theoretic arguments in philosophy”, 05/01, 1–3pm, Room8400,
Model-theoretic arguments are arguably some of the most important arguments in 20th century analytic philosophy, playing a central role, be it positive or negative, in the works of philosophers like Russell, Quine, Davidson, Lewis, Putnam, and others. In this talk, based on my dissertation, I will give a historically informed introduction to these arguments in their various forms, how they are related, and what we can learn from them.
Interested in what we do?
Find out how to become involved below
GC students
Become a full member of the group. This is the best option if you want to attend organization meetings where we plan what activities to do, how to spend the budget, and so on. For that you just have to fill in the following DGSC form: https://cunydgsc.org/chartered-org/portal/apply.php
Become a supporter of the group. This is the best option if you don't want to be involved in anything of what is mentioned above, but you still want to support the group's continued existence as a GC chartered organization. If you are interested in that, you can fill in the same form as above but instead of choosing the logic group in the membership list you should only choose it in the roster list.
Attend our events. Regardless of the official membership or support options mentioned above, you can always attend the logic group's activities if you're interested.
Undergraduate and graduate students at other CUNY colleges, and members of the faculty and staff of any CUNY college
Become a non-voting member of the group. This is the best option if you want to attend organization meetings where we plan what activities to do, how to spend the budget, and so on. For that you just have to email us at: cunylogicgroup@gmail.com.

We are always happy to welcome people interested in logic, email us at cunylogicgroup@gmail.com if you would like to attend any of them.
