Dear Parents, Guardians, and Students,
Welcome to the 2018-2019 school year at Manor Senior High School! I am so excited to have each of your students in my classroom this year. My name is Jack Cunningham, and I am a graduate of the University of Notre Dame (BA Philosophy, 2014) and the University of Washington (Master in Teaching, Secondary English, 2018). I am brand new to the Austin area and to the Manor school district. I consider myself a lifelong learner--you and your students will teach me a lot over the course of this school year! When I'm not at work, you can find me hiking, climbing, or swimming.
My goal as a teacher is to develop students' critical thinking skills through language, and to prepare students for meaningful post-high school options and to be thoughtful participants in American society. I am committed to ensuring educational equity in my classroom and working for a more just and peaceful future.
I want to build relationships with students, but just as importantly, I want to build relationships with parents and guardians. If you have any questions, comments, or concerns, please feel free to reach out to me! My contact information is below--email is typically the quickest way to reach me. During office hours, my door is open to parents and guardians. During tutorial time, students are welcome to stop by for one-on-one conferences and homework help.
Let's make this school year the best we can together! Go Mustangs!
Best, Jack Cunningham
