After hustling to strive in the corporate world, Piyush is all set to take on new challenges as the Team Lead. Enthusiastic about this opportunity, Piyush constantly struggles between his boss's expectations and the chaos that unfolds behind the cubicles with his team - or rather, his best friends.

Spanning 5 episodes, around 25 minutes each, Cubicles tonally rhymes with The Kota Factory, another TVF whiz-kid. Both are heartwarming, entertaining, and know exactly when to stop. You have a new entrant into an ecosystem, trying to make sense of it. You have parents he is trying to make proud, friends he is trying to make and sustain, a lover he tries to pursue briefly, and a mentor figure who keeps doling out seemingly prophetic advice through metaphors and platitudes. (Both the main characters even try to prove themselves the first time by cheating, and learn their lesson)

Each episode of this one season deals with one issue, either first day jitters, a love life, understanding how salary is credited, how to spend it, and room-mate spats. There is little beyond these 'issues' in each episode, which get resolved, and so at the end of the season, you have one character who has undergone five resolved issues. While each episode is heartwarming, and moves brusquely, it is easy to understand why then, the series feels only like the sum of its parts. Not more.

The first episode begins with Piyush having Monday blues, and while at office, he settles into his cubicle with his colleagues Gautam and Naveen Shetty, Sunaina joins them as their new colleague. She is aggressive and ruthlessly competitive, unlike the others sharing the cubicle. How they co-exist and Piyush rises the ranks in the organisation forms the crux of the season.

Cubicles S2 has taken a year's leap. The series begins with the Monday office being cancelled and Piyush Prajapati celebrating the occasion with his friends over booze and some great music. However, it was all in his dreams. Ah! How we all dread Monday mornings and wish for it to get cancelled. Alas! Reality strikes and Piyush wakes up getting late for work. Piyush's old roommate, Kalpesh, is gone and now his co-worker Gautam (Badri Chavan) is his new flatmate. It looked like Gautam changed places with Piyush in the new season, since he is the one trying to crack PJs and reminding Piyush about paying the bills on time. In the first season, Piyush was the king of bad jokes and was the sincere flatmate who took responsibility for the bills and chores.

While Kalpesh (Arnav Bhasin), Richa (Srishti Rindani) and Dhume (Sameer Saxena) were missing, there are some new characters like Sunaina (Ayushi Gupta) and RDX (Jaimini Pathak) introduced this season. Ayushi Gupta shines as the ambitious Sunaina Chauhan. Her life mantra is CMC, ie. Chuko Mat Chauhan.

Piyush is one lucky chap. He was seen dilly-dallying while the HR from another firm kept calling him. But, he still ended up getting the offer letter, which doesn't happen in real life. HRs won't keep on calling you. If you've missed the bus, you will have to hop on another one. It was really unbelievable when he gave up a cabin for the love of cubicles.

With five episodes of 30 minutes each, Cubicles Season 2 is binge-worthy with its simplistic storytelling. You can watch Season 2 even if you haven't watched Season 1. But, my suggestion is to watch both the seasons to enjoy the series as a whole. The series is relatable AF, which is the major USP of the show. Watch it if you are missing your 9-to-5 work-from-office environment and want to travel back in time.
