Cube Escape is one of the most mysterious room escape game you will ever play. Try to unfold the story and mysteries behind the cubes. You will start with your first memory, spring 1964. There are flaws, of course. The higher quality of the art in later games makes this one stand out a bit. In terms of gameplay, most puzzles were pretty intuitive (although I had someone sitting with me who had played them before, so I did have a guide). There were some, however, that were not easy to figure out, particularly when one travels back to the past (I think of helping Harvey escape and return specifically). On the note of time travel, the game's weakest point is not telling you that it's going to involve this particular plot point. My guide told me to travel back to previous levels, but without this piece of advice, I would likely have assumed the game was over after I escaped the final room.

Cube Escape: Seasons is a puzzle game in which you try to escape from a series of rooms that are set in different eras. As is typical for games in this genre, you have to interact with different elements in the level and solve lots of puzzles in order to escape from the rooms.

In Seasons, you'll take a trip through your memories in a small, quiet house that holds a lot more secrets than you expect. In The Lake, the water is calm outside your little fishing hut, which doesn't seem to have very much in it apart from some old cabinets, a fishing rod... and a knife. Click around to interact and pick things up, though be warned that the cursor won't change if it passes over something you can use, so you'll need to be diligent. Items with a magnifying glass in your inventory can be clicked to view close up, while others can be used where you like by clicking them once to pick them up, and then again wherever you want to try to use them. Some items can be used more than once... occasionally in the same fashion. The small arrows at the edges of the screen will let you move and look around the room, and the white arrows on the right side of the screen will let you scroll up and down through your inventory. You may want to play Seasons first, as there's something you can find (and make a note of) there that will change the ending of The Lake.

I looked at the walkthrough - and I've followed it exactly but the blue cube will not come out when I click on it. I get a sudden whitish 'doughnut' above the clock face when I click - but the cube never comes out.

in seasons - winter - i'm stuck too. i got mixed up with what to do to escape memories or change time, and ended up activating the blue cube before i realized oops i have to change time first. and now, no way to get the blue cube out, or at least or to begin only the 4th level again...

I couldn't finish Seasons, the content touched a little too much on a particularly sensitive experience for me. I managed to make it all the way to the 1981 before I really had to close it, so I got to play a fairly large chunk! It's a shame, because I do enjoy the style room escape where you have to uncover the mystery of why you're there, and overall it was very clever and novel. Also, going by some of the spoilers, it looks like I missed out on the more interesting/intricate part of the game. Well, I enjoyed the art style and the great atmosphere it created!

Put the egg in its cup, and crack it with your spoon (click multiple times). You will get a black cube. Zoom out and back in, then get the pot back.

The other piece is under the radio just on this side of the wall. Put that in its place, put the wood on the fireplace, light it and click the box on the picture several times. To start off, Cube Escape: Seasons has some scary moments like the jump scare when you crack open the egg with a spoon. Then during Fall 1971, you're flipping through TV channels and retrieve the black cube. Once you do, suddenly blood starts dripping from above. You look up and there's a freaking bloody eyeball staring at you. If you click the black mushroom before it's fully grown, you're in for another jump scare. The whole screen will suddenly turn into a horrific bloody forest accompanied with a scare chord. This jump scare also happens when you're blending the mushroom. In Mr. Rabbit's room, if you look at his poster on the wall about his shows and then look at the window once you look away from it, his ghostly feature will slowly zoom past the window whilst looking at you, which can easily catch you off guard if you're not paying attention. Chapter 4 of Case 23 is a nerve-wracking timed section where you have to repair an elevator before a corrupted soul kills you. As time goes on, the outside becomes pitch-black, the walls start almost pulsating, and you see a deer with its head chopped off. Near the end of Cube Escape: Mill, once you insert the black cube into the water tank in the basement, the entire scenery outside suddenly turns pitch black. Upon further investigation, you see that the old lady has stabbed herself in the eyes with her own sewing needles. Another scary thing about this is that we have absolutely no idea WHY she committed such a brutal suicide like that in the first place. She had absolutely no issues knitting all those items for you to further progress into the game (in exchange for warm milk and duck meat), and out of nowhere she kills herself. Cube Escape: Birthday has its signature scene of Mr. Rabbit breaking down the door and gunning down Dale's family, as well as a jump scare of the same rabbit at the window. The scenes with Mr. Rabbit in Paradox (a sort-of replay of Dale's memory of this event) are arguably worse, as he leads the player in a twisted game of hide and seek first. 17dc91bb1f
