ASM (formerly known as the American Society for Microbiology) is a global community shaping the future of the microbial sciences to tackle some of the world's most pressing challenges. The mission of our branch foster is to scientific exchange and professional growth at every career stage through scientific meetings, distinguished lectures, career development opportunities, mentoring, and student research presentations. By bringing together members from diverse institutions, disciplines, and backgrounds, we cultivate an inclusive community that promotes innovation, collaboration, and evidence-based solutions to local and global challenges. 

We have a proud legacy dating back to 1922 as part of the first cohort of ASM regional branches. Our first president was Dr. Leo F. Rettger of Yale University, a pioneering microbiologist and educator whose contributions helped shape the field. In recognition of his leadership and lasting impact, we are also known as the Leo F. Rettger Society.
