OCPS Nondiscrimination Policy Update

"LGBT teachers, led by Clinton McCracken, worked with local advocates to encourage the School Board to implement non-discrimination policies for LGBT students and teachers. We secured sufficient support from School Board members to proceed with an adoption of policies to protect gay students and employees, but continued to advocate for inclusion of transgender students and employees. Teacher and Collaborator

Clinton McCracken has been teaching for over 20 years and prides himself on helping students develop their creativity and skills in art but even more important than that, finding their voice. He believes art helps bring meaning to the world and can help students find their place in a complicated maze. Clinton has always loved large scale collaborative projects that bring people together and during the pandemic he coordinated several collaborative "virtual mosaics" where students, teachers, district employees, and family members could contribute to a shared project and take pride in creating something beautiful together. These were centered around the artists van Gogh, Monet, Dali, Degas, and the next one in the works... Elizabeth Catlett!
