SEWAGE/WASTEWATER⇨ CSO

What’s the Story?

Wait? What? Is this where this stuff is supposed to go?! Accidental CSOs or “combined sewage overflows” happen when there is a malfunction at the wastewater treatment plant (or along the way there, through the many sewage pipes that flow underground). Maintaining wastewater treatment facilities and all the underground infrastructure is really difficult! These systems are in use all day, every day. Shutting them down for repair is expensive and inconvenient for a community. But it is critical to invest in maintaining and upgrading these systems to help reduce accidental CSOs and protect the environment from this type of pollution.
