AGRICULTURE ⇨ OCEAN/HARBOR
What’s the Story?
So many plants and water creatures! Marine agriculture (aquaculture) is a great way to produce plants and animals that humans enjoy eating without depleting the natural resources and wildlife in the ocean. These systems, although efficient, can cause harm to oceans and harbors if they are using fertilizers, pesticides, or antibiotics to increase growth and production. Sometimes these facilities release excessive amounts of nutrients into the ocean ecosystem, causing great disruptions like algae blooms. Striking a balance between efficiency and growth with protecting natural resources is very important in agriculture! Your water drop traveled from an “aquaculture” farm back into the ocean, becoming salt water.
