Charity Sailing Challenge

Twenty 18!

Welcome to my website and to my Charity Sailing Challenge Twenty 18!

Come and support a girl and her dog! Our aim is to sail as many races and events as possible over the next sailing season. I am doing this to raise money for two great charities.

Water Aid and Guide Dogs are the two charities me and Popcorn are supporting! Check out the logos/pictures at the bottom of the page to find out more about these charities.

Updates on what's been happening lately

It’s been an exciting few months, I have been doing a lot of things for the challenge and it is going very well.

Most recently, I have been on a squad week at Swarkestone SC. I sailed for the whole week and at the end I had achieved my goal of the Start Racing certificate.

I spent a week at Kos (Greece) and this was my first time sailing on salt water and in a Hartley 10 and a RS Cuba. It was a great week spent with Mark Warner Holidays. I would really recommend them.

The week before my holiday, I was at Attenborough SC helping out on RYA Level 2 Junior course, I helped teach and organize 6 new sailors and so far we have had all of the kids off the course go to one of the junior sessions which is great.

At Attenborough SC I am 2nd junior overall and 7th out of 44 in the Summer Series! As well I am 3rd in the Slow Fleet and 2nd in the Fast Fleet from when I crewed with Nick Marlow. I am really proud of how far I have come and I will keep pushing to achieve more and more.

Going back a while ago I was at Staunton Harold SC doing the RYA Honda Rib Challenge, I came 5th in my category. It was a really cool and a great experience as I am not use to going that fast, so it was a bit overwhelming.

So far I have done over 40 plus races, I have sailed in the Northern Tripartite, Comet champions, Trent Tripartite, Silver series, Summer Series and Wednesday series. I have also done some training with Swarkestone and Attenborough juniors.

I have a lot more followers on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. On Facebook, every time I post over 130000 people see my post’s, and I get more followers when I post, I would so like to say thank you to everybody who likes, comments and follows me.

Me and Popcorn sailing! I will update these pictures every week/ time I sail.

I will mainly be sailing in a Topper with either a 4.2 or standard sail. I also have use of a Concept 302 and a double handed Feva.

I sail next to Attenborough Nature Reserve which gets hundreds of visitors over the weekend and most walk next to our sailing club.

If you wish to support me on this challenge I will be sailing up to 3 times a week (weather permitting) and possibly more. I will also have special one off events such as courses I will attend, duties and special club days.

I will be sailing some races with my dog Popcorn who is a 1 year old Shih-poo, she started sailing with me last season and really likes it, just like me! To be safe, she will only sail if the weather is good. She has already sailed in a few events. The best event so far was the Comet Open held at Attenborough Sailing club. See pictures above. We came last but it was lots of fun!

I am an experienced sailor and I have been sailing since I was 7 and reached my RYA YSS Stage 4 last year. I compete in junior events as well as many adult events. I mainly sail at my home club (ASC) but this year I will also try and sail at other clubs.

if you sponsor this challenge you have a chance to win a £25 voucher from Sailing Chanderly or one of the four £5 VOUCHERS from beaphar!

If you’re a company that is looking for some good advertisement, I would be willing to do numerous things for your support:

  • put your company logo on my boat either by sticker (that you supply) or I can have it printed through a label printer.
  • wear a T-Shirt or cap with your company logo on it.
  • your company logo stickers can be applied to my sail if they are special sail stickers.
  • wear a helmet with your company logo sticker on it.

All money raised will go towards two great charities, Water Aid and Guide Dogs. I have picked these charities because I believe everybody should have fresh water near their homes. My dog Popcorn has picked Guide Dogs because she is too small to be a guide dog and she wants to give blind people more freedom to be able to explore the world as much as possible.
