Special Social Events

  • Campus Tour: Come explore parts of the 320 beautiful acres of the New Mexico Tech campus. NMT offers a full gym, intramural and club sports, a swimming pool that is open all year and much much more. NMT offered its first ever e-sports scholarship this year. Our competitive team hosted and participated in several tournaments. Come and see which game gets your buZZ going. Best part of this tour is finishing at the duck pond where we will take the opportunity to feed the ducks.

  • Macey Center: is a 615-seat, fully-equipped theater and conference center. This beautiful facility is available for conferences, meetings, parties, weddings, performances, and other special events. It features elegant catering by NMT's Chartwells Catering, a lovely art gallery, and scenic mountain views.

  • NMT Game Room: Board games, video games, ping pong and billiards can all be found at the NMT Game Room. The Game Room is equipped with something for most everyone.  There are six pool tables including a Carom table, a Snooker table and four pocket billiard tables.  Gamers have access to a variety of gaming consoles including Nintendo Switch, X-Box, and PlayStation.  Table tennis as well as board games are available too so there should be something in it for you.

  • NM Bureau of Geology and Mineral Museum: Keeping with NM’s rich geological history, we will tour the Mineral Museum. The Mineral Museum established in 1889, houses the collection of 15,000 mineral specimens and was assembled to assist with the education of the engineers and geologists and has grown to be one of the largest.

  • Skeen Library: holds more than 600,000 books, periodicals, government publications, microforms, maps, videos, audio disks, and computer files in its 54,000 square foot, three-story building on the northeast corner of the campus. The library serves the research and study needs of students and faculty, and its collection reflects the specialized research interests of the Tech community.

  • Discussion Panel: Undergraduate and Graduate students from the Computer Science and Engineering and the Cybersecurity Center of Excellence will be presenting the opportunities they have received at NMT and their decision to pursue a career in these expansive ever-growing fields.

  • NMT Recreation and Well-Being Center: comprises two large multipurpose gymnasiums, a newly renovated weight and fitness room, a new training bouldering wall, one racquetball court, and one squash court. Additional recreational areas include a large, multi-use athletic field, multi-use turf court, and a sand volleyball pit.

  • Magdalena Ridge Observatory: The Magdalena Ridge Observatory (MRO) is located on 1,000 acres at 10,600 feet in the Magdalena Mountains of the Cibola National Forest in Socorro County, New Mexico (NM). The MRO consists of two major facilities: an operational 2.4-meter fast-tracking telescope (2.4-meter telescope) and Magdalena Ridge Observatory Interferometer (MROI), a ten-element optical/infrared interferometer, under construction. This exciting trip will take us up the side of the South Baldy Mountain where we will explore the breath-taking views, the telescopes and be briefed on the MRO mission.
