What is provided?
Infosys Foundation USA will host the Pathfinders Online Institute 2023 virtually with 20 PD courses occurring between May 1st and August 31st . The CSAwesome team is proud to announce that we will be one of 20 curriculum providers participating in this event! Register here.
Teachers attending the CSAwesome Pathfinders professional development immersion experience will:
learn to use the CSAwesome curriculum to teach College Board's AP Computer Science A (Java) course
be part of a professional learning community, supported by a PD facilitator experienced with CSAwesome
receive support from an online discussion forum
have access to the CSAwesome student curriculum and teacher materials (e.g. discussion forum, lesson plans, & teacher guides)
The professional development is 45-65 hours total: Teachers will complete 40 hours of the CSAwesome PD over the course of 5 days plus attend a teacher orientation on May 31. New to Java teachers will be invited to participate in 20 hours of pre-work before the immersion week event.
How much does it cost?
Thanks to generous funding from Infosys Foundation USA this experience is FREE for U.S. K-12 public school teachers.
Note: The CSAwesome PD is open to U.S. public high school teachers only and space is limited.
Eligibility & Application
Preference will be given to teachers who...
are public high school teachers, teaching in grades 9-12
are planning to teach the CS A course in the 2023-24 academic year
are new to CS A and Java programming, but have some programming experience, such as training in AP CSP
Apply Now! Applications for the Pathfinders Summer Institute are now open. All public high school teachers are invited to apply. Special consideration will be given to high-needs schools, teachers from underrepresented communities, those new to teaching CS, and districts demonstrating significant commitment to these subjects.
Acceptance is contingent on submission of a completed Administrator Letter of Support. Please submit letters to csawesome@css.edu.
