CRYPTO 2026
Are you a PhD student or postdoc interested in entering academia who loves teaching? As it turns out, there are a lot of teaching-focused jobs in academia apart from standard research-oriented professor jobs at R1 universities! These include, for example,
Jobs at Liberal Arts Colleges: These tend to be more 50/50 on teaching/research expectations, with a higher teaching load and lower research expectations than a standard R1. You will be expected to display excellence in both research and teaching.
Teaching Faculty Positions: These are positions solely dedicated to teaching. These are different from temporary lecturer or adjunct professor positions, and some of them are even tenure-track! Depending on the position, it may also be possible to do research on the side.
The purpose of this workshop is to explain the many different opportunities available in the academic job market for those who love teaching. We will also provide advice on how to find and apply for these types of jobs. While the application process can be very similar, there are some important differences (such as deadlines)!
This workshop is primarily intended for students and postdocs, but we welcome anyone, including those who may be interested in how to advise their own students about such positions.
This workshop is held as an optional event during CRYPTO 2026. You do not need to register for this event to attend.
