Message from the Manager:

Dear Prospective CRYS members, parents/guardians, and teachers,

I would like to invite your student to participate in the Chautauqua Regional Youth Symphony for the 2019-2020 school year.

The Chautauqua Regional Youth Symphony (CRYS) is a regional orchestral program designed to give students, who may not have an orchestra program in their public school district, an opportunity to perform in an orchestra. It also serves as an additional performance opportunity for students who are already playing in their school orchestra.

CRYS consists of three different orchestras. Participating students are grouped by similar experience levels. Our priority is to place students in an ensemble that will give them the best musical experience. All students who play an orchestral instrument are welcome to play!

Rehearsals will take place at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church in Lakewood. Rehearsal schedules are updated frequently and are posted on our website: Go to the “schedule” tab to see our current calendar.

The Chamber Orchestra performs two concerts. The first one is in the Fall, and rehearsals will begin in September. The other two groups, the Young Artists Orchestra and Prelude Strings start their rehearsals in January. The season concludes with the spring gala held in Lenna Hall in Chautauqua Institution where all three orchestras perform. Throughout the season there are several opportunities for coaching sessions with local professionals and enrichment opportunities throughout the Western New York area.

At the top of this page you will find a link to download our brochure. Please feel free to share this brochure with any other students you feel may be interested in participating. If you would like hard copies of the brochures, please contact me and I would be more than happy to send some to you. A link to the registration form is also at the top of this page.

If you are a current student of CRYS and you recruit a new member, you will receive a “referral discount” on your tuition. Just make sure they put your name on their registration form to make sure I know you referred them to the group. All are welcome!

As a public school music teacher myself, I am always striving to place the student’s experiences and well-being, both musically and otherwise, as priority number 1. If you have any questions at all, please do not hesitate to reach out by clicking here. I am more than happy to help any way I can.
