The Carnival Fete

7 July 2018

The Carnival Fete is held at the Morgan Field, Lower Broadmoor Road, and comprises stalls from many charities and local groups, a mini funfair, a full stage with a variety of acts from local groups, many food outlets, a beer tent, and inside the Morgan Centre teas/coffees and cakes by the local WI.

There are 90+ stalls on the field and they cater for every age group. There is something for everyone, and in between visiting them you can watch the singers and dancers on the stage. Here are some of the details:

Requesting a stall: There is a small cost for a stall (shown on the application form). The price depends upon the size of the pitch (most are either 4Mx4M or 6Mx6M) and whether it is for a local group/ charity, Crowthorne trader, or food stall. Stalls that simply promote a non-commercial organisation are free and so are stalls where all the money made is donated to the carnival.

What you need to bring: The fete team will mark out the pitches, and allocate one to you according to your requirements. They will also site waste bins strategically around the field and especially near to food outlets. You will need to provide everything else. Most stallholders bring a gazebo, tables (and chairs if they need them) plus whatever it is that they do or sell. If you have any special requirements then bring them to the attention of the fete team.

Facilities: Free standing event toilets are provided adjacent to the Morgan car park. There are more toilets in the Morgan centre lower level (accessible from behind the play area) and on the top level accessible from the main entrance. This is also where the disabled toilet is situated.

Parking: Part of the Morgan car park is reserved for special requirements so parking is limited. Stallholders can request permission to park at the rear of the field (the basketball pitch) otherwise parking is in parking bays and on the grass along Lower Broadmoor Road. If further parking is needed there is space at Edgbarrow School just a short walk along Grant Road.

Rubbish: There will be a skip and bins provided for all rubbish. Everyone must ensure that their pitch is left litter-free.

Field safety: On the field is a Carnival gazebo where missing children can be brought. There is also a fire extinguisher at this point. On the field are the fire engine and a first aid pitch. Carnival stewards patrol the field to observe any at risk areas. For safety reasons cars are only allowed on the field before and after the fete. Vehicles will not be able to leave the field if parked at the basketball court until the event finishes.
