AllStars Junior Band (part of Concord Youth Music)
Each Saturday morning Croft House is buzzing with activity as children and young people, aged from 8 years upwards, spend a couple of hours learning to play instruments, dance, make music together and having fun. Concord AllStars Junior Band is part of long standing Croft House user group Concord Youth Music.
Many of the kids have only been learning drums, brass, orchestral key boards or "flag dancing" a few months but they put on a great show at the recent Crookes Festival. 30 kids and their volunteer instructors set up on a patch of grass to entertain an appreciative crowd of shoppers, residents and passers by. Music included Mr Blue Sky, Super Trouper, a Jackson 5 medley, The Wellerman and old favourites When The Saints Go Marching In and Ode To Joy.
AllStars will be out and about with a parade at Hope Wakes Carnival (22nd June), another parade and short concert at Woodseats Festival (14th July) and an appearance at St Marie's RC Primary School Fair (6th July)
If you know a youngster who would like to learn to play brass, drums, orchestral percussion or join our "flag dance/' team they can just pop into Croft House on Saturday morning from 10.30am to 12.30pm. No need to have any experience and all instruments, equipment and costume is provided on free loan. We even offer 4 free lessons so kids and parents can see if they like it before joining.
