The album was well received by critics and fans alike, reaching number 6 on the Billboard Jazz Albums chart, number 31 on the R&B Albums chart, and number 84 on the Billboard 200 chart. Some of the highlights of the album are "Dr. Macumba", a funky instrumental with a catchy groove and horn section; "Long Ago and Far Away", a beautiful ballad with a string arrangement; "Cabo Frio", a lively Latin tune with a catchy melody; "Keep Your Eye on the Sparrow", a cover of the theme song from the TV series Baretta, featuring backing vocals by Alexandra Brown, Lisa Roberts, and Stephanie Spruill; "Catherine", a romantic song dedicated to Klugh's wife at the time; "Dance with Me", a cover of the hit song by Orleans, with a smooth jazz twist; "Jolanta", a soothing song with a gentle melody; "Summer Song", a sunny and upbeat song with a catchy chorus; and "This Time", a funky and groovy song with a synthesizer solo by Grusin.
In 1991, Mobile Fidelity Sound Lab (MFSL) released a remastered version of the album on vinyl and CD, using their original master recording technology. This version is considered to be one of the best sounding versions of the album, with improved clarity, dynamics, and depth. The remastered version also features a different cover art, showing Klugh's hand holding a paintbrush. The remastered version is very rare and hard to find, as it was only produced in limited quantities. However, you can download it from this link, which contains a .rar file with the FLAC and MP3 files of the album, as well as the scans of the cover art and booklet. The file size is 188 MB for FLAC and 87 MB for MP3.
